Title: Valuing a Computer Post by: Langers on Monday, April 30, 2012, 14:13:35 Does anyone know what the best way to value a computer is?
Is it best to take it to somewhere and get it valued or is there somewhere online where I can enter the details and get a valuation as I haven't got a clue and want to make sure i'm not selling it for the wrong price. With new PC's and Laptops so cheap now, the second hand market isn't the best.
No websites/valuers as such. What spec/OS is it? Will it come with Office? Title: Re: Valuing a Computer Post by: Peter Venkman on Monday, April 30, 2012, 14:30:22 Sippo is correct, a 2nd hand PC is worth what people will pay for it basically, put up the spec and I am sure there are a few people can give you an honest opinion of its value.
As Sippo states the PC 2nd hand market is at its lowest point, it may even be worth breaking it up and selling it on Ebay for its component parts. 2nd hand Hard drive prices are strong though currently if its of a decent size....500gb+ Title: Re: Valuing a Computer Post by: Langers on Monday, April 30, 2012, 14:31:32 They're both fairly old but have Windows XP on them.

Title: Re: Valuing a Computer Post by: Peter Venkman on Monday, April 30, 2012, 16:07:09 I would suggest a value of around £50-£70 but some people may be willing to pay a little nearer £100 if you are lucky and it has a usable graphics card and not onboard graphics, the lower value if its onboard graphics.

Perhaps a museum of old computers that will have a dislplay of ZX Spectrums with the rubber keyboard. Followed by some compressed air into the keyboard to blow out the cobwebs, finished with a nice meal and a good bottle of red. It should feel valued after that.
