Post by: STFCere on Monday, July 25, 2005, 15:00:55
didnt go to crawley but spoke 2 some1 who did he said he played well. agree? disagree? he also said ifil played v badly so i think out priority should be central def 1st, then central mid then back up for evans thoughts ?

ifil was poor but bulman ain't great. i can't see him pushing ryhs for a place.

we still need a central def and a fighter in midfield and then a 2nd keeper  :?

I think Bulman is terrible. Sorry, but from 3-0 he cost us the game against Chippenham!

Will never be good enough to push Rhys.

Ifil was awful, Bulman was poor and I only pray we never have to rely on him in a first team game.

I will be panicking if we have no backup for Evans apart from Bulman, just don't think he's good enough.

I was a little tipsy but can't remember Bulman having to do too much other than pick the ball out of the net 3 times (feel free to correct me Whits, Sonic or others who were at the game). He did make a very good save mid point through the second half.

IMO Ifil wasn't too bad. It was a usual Ifil performance, good for 85 mins, great for 4 but just made really bad school boy errors which unfortunately always seem to lead to goals.

I thought he was a bit unlucky on the penalty as the Crawley player did fall over a bit easily.

If Ifil can get rid of these silly mistakes he would make a very good defender (I know we've been saying this for some time now). Not sure what the answer is though?

give him an electric shock everytime he makes a mistake, he will soon learn   though we may have to wire up the national grid to him if he continues to fuck up in the quantity he has done!  :D

Didn't he spill a shot for their second? He dropped one in the net pretty much at Ciren. Which was not encouraging. Although to be fair his confidence was shot at that point by the sexual harrassment he'd had from Tails' Mum.

Plus points for Bulman:

Made a superb save to keep it at 3-3 - I think it was Sonic/JMH who said it was going wide anyway, but it was extremely agile, as the shot was down in the bottom corner and taken from around 15 yards out.  I would go as far as to say it was one of the best saves I've seen live

Did seem to talk more to his defence than Rhys

He's cheap

He's very young, has time to develop

Negative points for Bulman:

Kicking is as poor as Rhys', and struggled to reach the halfway line.  I don't remember it being windy

Did spill a shot which was smashed in only for it to be ruled offside, to spare his blushes

Not as good as Rhys, and seemingly just as dodgy!

Conclusion

A second choice 'keeper is a very low priority, and needs to be better than Bulman, which isn't easy.  He doesn't to me look spectacularly worse (or better) than Book, but is cheaper freeing up funds for more outfield players.  Book was only called upon once last season when Rhys was injured against Bournemouth, but other than that Book wasn't needn't (did play in some LDV games?!).

Having seen both play, I actually rate the 16 year old kid who lives at the bottom of my road as a better keeper.

Honestly surprised the club hasnt at least given him trails....

Everybody would!

I'm not sure who I rate higher (or should I say lower?), Bulman or Glass.
