Nice to see our beloved Paolo's infamous goal again.

What was infamous about the goal? Poor old Di Canio can't do anything right.

:)

I love Bergkamp's goal against Newcastle...

Hell of a turn. I voted PDC though.

Why didnt Luc Nijholt's goal vs Man Utd make the list .....

Purely for the campist celebration ever seen, that should have made the list!

Bergkamp or Le Tissier for me.

Anyone can get lucky and smack one in from 20 yards, but the close control those two had is just amazing.

Another one for Bergkamp. Different class.

I could imagine one of our players trying to do what Di canio did, missing the target and getting roasted by the boss for not letting the ball across their body and taking it with their left foot.

Still not convinced that Bergkamp meant it so can't choose that one. I think he meant to go the other side of the defender personally.

Always liked Henry's flick up and volley against Utd and Le Tiss could have a competition on his own.

Trevor Sinclair for QPR.

Matthew Le Tissier's reputation/legacy isn't as big as it probably should be. Lack of caps? Playing for Southampton throughout his entire career?

Easily one of the best footballers I ever saw.

That Bergkamp goal was incredible, although I think the one he scored against Leicester in about '97, where he flicked it over the defender, was even better.

Also, I see they have a link to the best celebrations at the bottom of the page, if Bullard's imitation of Phil Brown's team talk doesn't win that it will be a travesty.

I'm always a sucker for a wonder volley so Yeboah against Liverpool always stands out for me.  He argueably scored a better goal a few days later at Selhurst Park though

As far as wonder volleys go, Wayne Rooney gobbing off at the ref against Newcastle, then turning round and immediately smashing one into the top corner has to be my favourite.

That Shearer effort against Everton... Bosh.

Got to feel for Neil Sullivan who I believe was on the receiving end of three contenders. Beckham's half way effort, Yeboah's vs Wimbledon and Paolo's if I'm not mistaken.

Loved Trevor Sinclair's overhead kick.

I always loved the Frojtoft goal against Norwich in the 3-3 draw.

Loved Trevor Sinclair's overhead kick.

I'd stick Sinclair's on the shortlist ahead of Cantona's chip... There I said it.

Wasn't that goal in the FA Cup though?

Bergkamp meant it - he was already spinning around to get it as he flicked it. Not as good as vs Argentina in 98 though.

Tough choice - PDC's was class, so was Le Tiss, Rooneys was a  technical masterpiece  but hes a cunt so won't vote for him.

I'd go for Keith Scott vs QPR.

If that's why then so be it.

I still think that's there's probably better goals from less adored Premier League alumni.

Not the best of the lot in my opinion, but how fucking sweetly did Shearer connect to his?

I have no problem with the celebration being nominated, it encapsulated everything that was great about Eric Cantona when he was playing.

Arrogance but the ability to get away with it!

You lot have swallowed the Sky mythology that top flight football has only existed for 20 years hook line and sinker.

Incidently the two sides in tonight's gig match, are managed by the two highest ranked goalscorers, in the last 20 years, currently managing...PdC and Reg Holdsworth, something like 46 and 49 on the list.  :)

If there was a Football League awards poll out there I'm sure we'd all happily vote and discuss.

I know a lot of people hated him, but I fucking loved Shearer. If we had at least one player in the England squad with only 75% of his desire to play and win, the Euro's might've been worth watching.

I hated Shearer only after he moved to the Geordies, dunno why I just did. But I loved him for England.

He is the best striker I have seen play for England in the flesh. I have attended England games with Shearer, Keegan, Owen, Lineker & Rooney and he is the best for me. He made Euro 96 worth watching.

matt le tissier's first one, he flufed :-)
Rooneys bycicle kick has to be up there, inch perfect execution.

Yeah if Le Tissier made a clean connection, I'd be drooling over that. But the last kick kind of spoils it for me.
Love Cantona's.

As I said in the other thread, the Cantona one is the best in my opinion. His celebration is ace, he's stated that he couldn't believe what he'd done.

yea, rather than run the pitch like a looney just standing with the look of "yep, i did that, not bad eh" gives it that extra something.
