Title: Mascot at STFC
Post by: guy66 on Monday, April 16, 2012, 15:00:29
I expect similar posts have been done in the past but I wanted to share my experience of my daughter's mascot day with this forum.
On Saturday my daughter had the mascot package for the Plymouth game and I cannot think of a better present for a young Town fan, OK, it's not cheap but I have to say you get more than your money worth and a day the child will never forget....and its pretty amazing for the Dad as well  :) We were escorted by a wonderful couple (Brenda and George)who know so much about the club and had some great stories, they took us on the tour of the ground and introduced us to Mike Spearman in the Boardroom, Paolo in his office (who despite his sad loss was great and made a huge fuss of my daughter, she had learnt some Italian especially which he seemed to appreciate) and the players in the changing room and gym, they signed lots of goodies for her (ball, shirts and our flag..which incidentally Paolo and Alan Connell commented on seeing it at grounds around the country). The food, hospitality and the whole experience were all faultless. There were so many positive things which made the day so special, the club really did us proud.

Its great to see the club is run as well off the pitch as it is off the pitch...a fantastic day which was rounded off with three points  :D

Think I saw you with your video camera filming your daughter. Was both mascots girls? They seemed to be loving the moment. :) My daughter was mascot at the England ladies game a couple of years ago at the Town Ground and stills talks about it now. Glad you enjoyed your day.

That was me!!! Thanks Notts Red, as my girl was the only mascot  George asked Shaun Hogdetts if his daughter would like a kick about on the pitch with her and they had a brilliant time  :)

As you said about your daughter's day, they will be talking about it for years to come..nice one

We found the pictures of our the time that our son was mascot the other day.

Unfortunately for us, it was at the time that Andy King was manager & he couldn't have been more unfriendly. Didn't say hello, or sign anything the ignorant twat.

As part of the package we had a signed ball, which they had managed to get a few of the youth team to sign, we sent it back & asked them to get it signed by the first team.

All in all it wasn't a great experience.

Guess it just goes to show how much better run the club is now compared to the previous bunch.

PS   Glad you & your daughter enjoyed your day :thumb:

My son did it for his 6th Birthday. It was great, met all the players, had a kick around on the pitch. Think he enjoyed it too.

Posh Red, having read your post I am even more impressed by our time on Saturday..Kat was given a ball to get signed herself which was a lovely touch.
As I type this she is writing her thank you letters and trying to translate some into Italian!

Sometimes being a town supporter can be "challenging" but on Saturday it was brilliant. As we live within 50 minutes of Stoke, Villa, Wolves..Man U etc I was determined she would follow a "real" club she could feel part of and not a clone like some of her friends.
