Jeremy Wray answers your questions

@thewashbag: Why are you still only ‘Interim Chairman’ and why has the club not held their AGM?

I agree, considering it would have been easier to not mention dates at all i guess this means the plans are progressing well behind the scenes. Hopefully over the Summer the club will show the fans the designs.

Rebuilding the stadium to include income streams from other sources beyond match day will be the difference between being a top half league one club and a championship club in my eyes

Interesting indeed concerning the redevelopment.  First time we've had some detail (even if it's only a snippet.)  The Town End certainly makes sense as the place to start and will have a transformative effect on the rest of the ground when the stand is increased in size and the roof raised.

Is there a design for the new Town End? At this moment in time I can only imagine that will be a design similar Atyeo Stand at Bristol City purely on the basis that we're doing this in stages.

That end behind the goal at City is shit. It looks shit and the acoustics seem to be shit as well (although that could just be the fans that ocupy it) The stand at the other end where the away fans sit would be half decent if it had seats with backs on them.

An absolute dream for me would be the end at Tynecastle although i'm pretty sure people have said this barely meets ground safety regulations because of how steep it is

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/c/c5/Tynecastle_Stadium_2007.jpg

I'm sure we could get some noise out of a design like that.

Another dream that would never ever get off the ground with the authorities given that it is a safe standing area would be a smaller version of dortmunds kop

http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-UjheYhi8p_I/Ty6Hp8dM3bI/AAAAAAAAAD4/XVmnEMsewKo/s1600/Dortmund-03.jpg

Whatever the case, I just hope they don't make it miles away from the pitch like that stand at Morecambe.

Very interesting news regarding the Town End. A less-steep version of that stand at Tynecastle would be perfect. Agree with whoever mentioned the floodlights though - hope they remain a feature going forward.

Having the new Town End being as steep as regulations allow would not only benifit the atmosphere acoustics but it would also mean there won't be too much of the carpark wiped out.

Can't imagine the authorities liking people standing in an area so steep though even if it does meet the requirements.

I fear it will be more like the Wycombe away end than anything though :-(

The Milton Road End at Southampton was probably the steepest I've walked down, a bizarre stand.

Are we still going for a 19,000 capacity like it says on the internet ground guide site?

http://pnefc-online.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/deepdale.jpg

Something like the Town End at Preston, matching the height of the Don Rogers stand? Hopefully, like others have said, its as steep as possible.

If we were have an empty end, I'd prefer the Braga template and get a mountain there....could then get 365 income form climbers/skiers/snowboarders in winter

I always thought thats why the Stratton bank wasn't redeveloped at the same time as the DRS, as the residents complained the stand was too high and would block their light.
Im probably wrong though as I was quite young when they had plans for that.

I sat in the Atyeo end when Bath played Brizzle there a few years ago (Rugby). I sat in there with a pint, so it wasn't too bad :) - Not my favourite stand though!

I'm sure the pox fans would claim that second photo is taken from the fence at the Kassam  ;)

I believe the DRS is the steepest a stand can be based on building regs. I maybe wrong though.

I remember hearing this also.  In fact, I think someone once told me that the maximum angle permitted for a new stand (back in 1994, that is) was 34°, and that the DRS (or Intel, as it was then) had an angle of 33°.  All of which could be complete rubbish, I know.

During the time I've known the County Ground (22 years), there have been two significant changes: the extension of the North Stand to pitch level (in about 1992) and the demolition of the Shrivenham Road Stand and its replacement with the Intel Stand/DRS (in 1994).  So nothing, basically, has changed - barring the strapping and unstrapping of seats to terraces - in almost 20 years.  I think this must be why I still think of the DRS as a fairly 'new' stand, even though there are now people in Swindon with driving licences who were born after it was built!

It was a combination of residents objecting to the height so there was talk of revising the height to that of the Rolex clock but mainly we ran out of cash/got relegated to what is now League One and it never happened. I'm remember that the Rovers/Briz rugby fans raised money to put a roof on the the Blackthorn terrace at the Mem. I think it was around 50K and the atmosphere there is good. Wonder if we could do something like that while re-developing the rest of the ground to keep a covered home end?

Like the Hearts stand and a mate of mine went to Hibs and they have an end stand like this
