Title: Liverpool
Post by: kerry red on Saturday, April 7, 2012, 14:45:26
Just watching Liverpool v Villa - Jesus how can such a big club keep producing such dross week in week out.

I think there is no doubt Mr Sour Face Dalglish will be out on his ear at seasons end - not just for dragging this once great club down but because of the absolute mountain of cash he has wasted on Carroll, Downing and the worst of all Jordan Henderson.

The stat that of the season started 1st January, Liverpool would be 2nd bottom, says it all

To be blunt, Liverpools squad is actually abysmal. I know they do have a few great players, but I watched them agaisnt newcastle the other day on t.v and I couldn't help thinking that if they want success, they are going to have to bring in a shit ton of better players.

I'm watching them at the moment and Villa, who are no great shakes themselves, aren't exactly hanging on.

The Yank who owns Liverpool will have no compunction about sacking Dalglish - but he will need to dig deep to fund another entire team I reckon

It's funny that Liverpool fans couldn't believe their luck when 'King Kenny' was appointed, when Hodgson was forced out, yet he had done fuck all since spending Blackburn's money to buy the title. Dalgliah was great at Newcastle and with John Barnes at Celtic !!

Now it's all falling apart...and Hodgson's will be having the last laugh.

Always thought Dalglish was overrated as a manager.

He took over the best team in the country & kept them winning, but as soon as the team started to get old he left. It was then the job of the next manager to dismantle & rebuild the team.

He had success at Blackburn, but by all accounts the hard work was done by the coach Ray Harford. And they were also the first of the big spenders as we saw to our cost, spending a shit load of cash on Duncan Shearer (for just a few weeks).

Every other job he has had, has ultimately been a disaster.

I think it was last week on MOTD where it was stated that Liverpool's points total this season is their worst at this time of the season for 10 years.

I used to love to watch the Liverpool of Beardsley, Heighway, Barnes etc.  That was truly great football.  I remember wishing that all the team was English, because they could just play instead of England, and they would be world-beaters. Nothing I've seen from any of the top PL teams now gets anywhere near that level.

Had an interesting discussion with a lad at work today regarding Stevie G....

He pointed out that it has always been suggested that Lampard cannot play with Gerrard and for some reason thats Lampards fault.... But no Charlie Adam seems to have lost all footballing ability since being paired with Gerrard - therefore i it Gerrard that is actually the problem?

Don't know (or in fact care) either way, but was an interesting thought

You are quite right, there were thousands of coppers at the back forcing Liverpool fans onto the terrace crushing the fans at the front.

Whilst the police, the FA & the TV companies all share some of the blame for various other reasons the fans that were actually doing the pushing from the back are completely blameless.

And FWIW isn't there a memorial at Anfield for the victims?

Is that a wind up posh? I do hope so.

It was Partly, as everyone knows & accepts that there were major mistakes by the authorities, and that the fans that lost their lives were innocent.

However, there is no getting away from the fact that the crush was caused by fans (most if not all with tickets) trying to push their way in because the game had started without them.  I don't believe that the Liverpool fans acted an differently than any other fans would have done, but ultimately it is them that caused the pressure which led to those innocent being killed.

The problem is that fans of Liverpool won't accept that they did anything to cause the problem, it does seem to be the way with Liverpool that it's always someone else's fault.

The biggest problem with the Police was the way they tried to deal with the situation when it happened, and probably worse cover up their mistakes afterwards.

What is without question, is that the reporting afterwards was shocking. Particularly by the Sun but also by many other media outlets.

Would this be the same report that did not blame ticketless fans:

And

By the time of the tragedy more than enough was known by the police about how to control large crowds.  They got it wrong and compounded their mistakes by trying to blame others.    Some Liverpudlians have a tendency to a certain mawkishness.   I think Liverpool and Newcastle suffer from getting far too emotional about their teams. It makes them fail to see what's happening.    But, in the end, it's easy to judge from afar isn't it?
