Is doing the summarising on 5 live tonight for the Man Utd v Blackburn game.

Comes across really well and thus far talks a lot of sense.  I expect he will go into management in the not to distant future. 

I would put money on his carving out a more than acceptable career in management for hiimself rather as he has done on the pitch!

Respect him big time,gets shit loads of abuse but his medal count does his talking,he never reacts as others would.

I still can't stand his brother Gary though.

I was working in Liverpool a few weeks back and there is a growing feeling there that Phil Neville may take over when Moyes moves on .......

I reckon he is more likely to start lower down the ladder ... But if he was offered the job, it would be nigh on impossible to turn down.

Seems likeable and knows what he is talking about - and more importantly knows how to put it across eloquently.  I've always liked him actually - a couple of poor performances, or even just the one mistake, in big games for England have held his reputation back.  I think he ought to have been more of a regular for England at times.

There's nothing wrong with the Neville's and there never has been. Fans are weird.

Gary is probably the best right-back of the last two decades while Phil is one of the few 'fledglings' to have done well after leaving United.

Neville was on top form last night. Never liked the bloke but after last nght he has chamnged my opinion. I also liked the fact that Barcelona seemed to have a guy playing for them called `wanker`  :nod:

I interviewed both when I worked for United. Phil was one of the nicest footballers I've met. He was doing his UEFA licence at the time at Rossendale FC. He was a bright guy, so won't be surprised if he goes on to manage.

Gary on the other hand... we fell out! Has to be said, though, he is an excellent pundit. Bright guy, just a bit of a dick.

For some reason and I don't know why but I have always hated Gary Neville, his brother is ok though.

He went ballistic at me on the phone twice but was nowhere to be seen every time I went to Carrington. Helmet.

On my first day in the job he called my editor to have a go at her. She wasn't in, so he basically shouted at me about somerhing or rather, forget what it was now. Think it was a picture we'd used of him that he didn't like. Then, he accused me of making up a quote in an interview I did with him, despite me offering to play it back to him from my dictaphone. He demanded we pull the interview and do another one, with someone else doing it.

The only reason I interviewed him in the first place was that he'd fallen out with all our other writers. I was the latest in a long line!

I repeat, Gary Neville is a dick and always will be.  Not all that as a player, major chip on his shoulder, acts the hard man without backing it up and is too bias to be a commentator.

 Gary is OK in the studio as an analyst, but terrible as a summariser. For match summary, less is more, you need someonre you don't really notice...a bit like a decent ref.  When it comes to pre-match and half/full time analysis, you need someone to waffle on the cliches, then the more discerning punter needn't watch. Gary fits well enough in that role.
