Title: Re: John Bostock Post by: Bogus Dave on Thursday, March 22, 2012, 14:57:02 He came through at palace, played for them really young then went to spurs and dissappeared. Would be the Ferry-like play people have been asking for
Title: Re: John Bostock Post by: london_red on Thursday, March 22, 2012, 14:57:58 Attacking midfielder who was highly touted as a youngster. He was the one who had scouts from Barcelona watching him when he was about 15 playing for Crystal Palace's reserves.
Played a few times for Shef Weds on loan earlier in the season. Title: Re: John Bostock Post by: bigbobjoylove on Thursday, March 22, 2012, 14:58:11 Yeah, not sure why the Adver called him a defender. He's an attacking midfield player.
Title: Re: John Bostock Post by: Bogus Dave on Thursday, March 22, 2012, 14:58:29 Looking at his career, has a whiff of a samba about him.
Oooohhhh so negative Title: Re: John Bostock Post by: gingernuggets on Thursday, March 22, 2012, 14:59:09 He was amazing as a kid but hasn't hit his full potential yet and has been shipped out on loan all over the place. Shows touches of genius still though, see goal on debut for Hull.
Was touted as future England regular 4/5 years ago. Title: Re: John Bostock Post by: LJ9 on Thursday, March 22, 2012, 15:01:07 28 games in 5 years.
Mate, who is a Spurs fan, says he's a poor Jermaine Pennant. If he does the business though. I won't be complaining Title: Re: John Bostock Post by: LucienSanchez on Thursday, March 22, 2012, 15:02:53 At our level, he'd be more than decent (if his attitude was up to scratch, not that i have any reason to suggest it wouldn't be...)
Title: Re: John Bostock Post by: phelpsieboy on Thursday, March 22, 2012, 15:04:05 Would be a quality signing at this level!
Has performed well in Championship for Hull and done decent for Wednesday in league one Title: Re: John Bostock Post by: bigbobjoylove on Thursday, March 22, 2012, 15:05:00 I thought we were close to the wage cap before bringing Jay whathisname and this guy? Are we using Wembley money for these 2?
Title: Re: John Bostock Post by: Peter Venkman on Thursday, March 22, 2012, 15:05:27 Very highly rated sometimes goes missing in games, may well stand out at this level.

Title: Re: John Bostock Post by: Flashheart on Thursday, March 22, 2012, 15:09:54 Perhaps this lad is another one we are looking at for next season then?
Title: Re: John Bostock Post by: Chubbs on Thursday, March 22, 2012, 15:11:12 very highly rated as a 15/16yr old, made the move to the big time a bit too soon and didnt get his break through, think he'd still do a job at Swindon.

That said, the Wendies don't rate his attitude one bit. I reckon he's on last chance alley. If paolo can't knock him into shape, then he'd best get his burger flipping skills up to scratch, would be my take on it. Clearly talented but too much too early possibly. Wasn't he the kid that went for several million when he was 15 or 16? Title: Re: John Bostock Post by: Chubbs on Thursday, March 22, 2012, 15:34:45 That said, the Wendies don't rate his attitude one bit. More of a Ferry than a Smith/Risser/Cox, reckon he would do a great job at this level. Title: Re: John Bostock Post by: DRS on Thursday, March 22, 2012, 15:38:44 Wednesday fans don't rate fucking anyone do they.
Title: Re: John Bostock Post by: phelpsieboy on Thursday, March 22, 2012, 15:41:30 Wednesday fans are deluded, they actually think Prutton is decent and rather him on the bench than Bostock
Title: Re: John Bostock Post by: Baggins on Thursday, March 22, 2012, 15:43:39 Wednesday fans are deluded, they actually think Prutton is decent and rather him on the bench than Bostock  Its a fact that some players do well at some clubs and badly at others. Charlton didn't rate Benson. Southend really rate Timlin. Many decent clubs did rate Prutton - I'm fairly sure he is a decent player, and it just didn't work out here. Same for (and I'm sure I'll be banned for this) Jamie Cureton. Title: Re: John Bostock Post by: SuggWillSugg MBE on Thursday, March 22, 2012, 15:47:26 So the way I see it, he's a Simon Ferry that can score goals? (and some pretty special ones at that!)
Title: Re: John Bostock Post by: Dirk Diggler on Thursday, March 22, 2012, 16:10:32 Just spoke to my mate who is a Sheff Wed STH. He said that he didn't really shine however they did play him on the wing. He says that its obvious that he is a centre mid.
I think that this could be a fantastic player at this level. What is does suggest is the quality of player that we are attracting is, for this level, and to parapraise, the great man "Amazing!" Title: Re: John Bostock Post by: SuggWillSugg MBE on Thursday, March 22, 2012, 16:16:16 Tottenham midfielder John Bostock has joined Swindon until the end of the season #stfc
From Gary Rose. Title: Re: John Bostock Post by: tj2002 on Thursday, March 22, 2012, 16:24:28 Really excited about this signing. Clearly got/had something a bit special and if Paolo can sort him out we could have a real player at this level
Title: Re: Re: John Bostock Post by: Batch on Thursday, March 22, 2012, 16:26:55 Maybe I'm stating the obvious but it seems to me we are scouting, trialling and recruiting with next season in mind already.
Just to be clear this seems good to me! Also strengthens us for the run in too and keeps everyone on their toes. Title: Re: John Bostock Post by: phelpsieboy on Thursday, March 22, 2012, 16:27:22 These two signings today show the Paolo factor
Title: Re: John Bostock Post by: kerry red on Thursday, March 22, 2012, 16:29:44 Hopefully, it also shows that, come what may, PdC will be here next season to oversee these players
Title: Re: John Bostock Post by: Flashheart on Thursday, March 22, 2012, 16:33:25 Are we not getting ahead of ourselves think Bostock will be here next season?
There's been no suggestion of it turning permanent. How highly do spurs value him? Title: Re: John Bostock Post by: magicroundabout on Thursday, March 22, 2012, 16:38:43 do we really need bostock? we've fucking loads of players!
Title: Re: John Bostock Post by: Peter Venkman on Thursday, March 22, 2012, 16:39:13 Are we not getting ahead of ourselves think Bostock will be here next season? He won't be here permanently next season I very much doubt, but this will set him up for a season long loan next year if it works out well for both parties. There's been no suggestion of it turning permanent. How highly do spurs value him? Harry has said in the past he does rate him and thats good, I think we onlt have him because of Paolos friendship with Harry. Title: Re: John Bostock Post by: Flashheart on Thursday, March 22, 2012, 16:39:39 do we really need bostock? we've fucking loads of players! Yes. We don't have cover for Ferry (until now) Title: Re: John Bostock Post by: Saxondale on Thursday, March 22, 2012, 16:40:43 The extension to the dressing room is the first stage of the CG redevelopment.
Title: Re: John Bostock Post by: Peter Venkman on Thursday, March 22, 2012, 16:42:02 Lots of defensive midfielders but as Mr Flashheart says we have no attacking midfielders in the squad as back up for Ferry, and its a long run in to the title we need as many class players in as we can get.
Title: Re: John Bostock Post by: Samdy Gray on Thursday, March 22, 2012, 16:42:56 As long as the wage budget supports it, we could have a squad of 100 for all I care.

Yep. That's annoying. He's better than the French bloke who was pointlessly signed. Title: Re: John Bostock Post by: Reg Smeeton on Thursday, March 22, 2012, 16:58:59 Bostock was supposed to be the saviour of English football when Spurs stole him from Palace...so I was interested to see him playing for an England Under something or other a year or so ago...he was terrible, well in a sort of not living up to the big billing way. Should have stayed at Palace...
Title: Re: John Bostock Post by: Langers on Thursday, March 22, 2012, 17:03:44 I thought Bodin would have been involved quite a bit for us for the rest of the season.

Title: Re: John Bostock Post by: Processed Beats on Thursday, March 22, 2012, 19:50:53 Bizarre.
Great potential but massive ego and terrible attitude is what I'm hearing but, as we all know, if anyone can get the best out of a player, then it's Paolo. Hope Bostock really takes his chance here; I'm sure he'll have heard about what happened to Clarke and to a lesser extent Montano, so he'll definitely have to be on his toes and up for making an impact. At the very least, it gives us some form of cover for Ferry who we really have become too reliant on. As for Bodin, I honestly can't understand this one. The Torquay move did him the world of good and he came back with some good League Two experience and chomping at the bit to be involved here. Paolo didn't let him return there because he wanted him involved here, yet he's readily let him go to Crewe when, in my opinion, he offers us something more significant up front than both Tehoue and Murray. Either way, I hope this temporary move is exactly that: temporary. Massive, massive potential to be a star and would like him to be here next season. Title: Re: John Bostock Post by: leefer on Thursday, March 22, 2012, 19:56:56 Or maybe he saw Torquays climb up the table as a bit of a threat....with Bodin,s goals doing the damage as the reason he didn't go back to Torquay.
