Title: What players will leave next season. Post by: animalwilliams on Tuesday, March 13, 2012, 11:15:02 Looking back to the 1985/86 championship team that Lou built. Several key members of that squad were shipped out just after the start of the new season in the old third division after a home thrashing by Rotherham.
Kenny Allen, David Cole, Chris Ramsey,Lee Barnard and Colin Gordon are the ones that I remember didn't play too much more for us. Will we need to offload many of the current squad. Title: Re: What players will leave next season. Post by: suttonred on Tuesday, March 13, 2012, 12:02:34 The only ones i would think that are "safe" are Fodds, Caddis,Flint, Macca, Devera, Ferry, Cox, Ritchie, Rooney and Benson. All of the others could possibly be jettisoned to be able to strengthen.

Post by: Ƭ̵̬̊: The Artist Formerly Known as CWIG on Tuesday, March 13, 2012, 14:10:34 I don't know if this is meant which ones are we likely to get rid of or which ones are we likely to lose? I think the only one we'd be in danger of losing that we'd like to keep would be Ritchie.
Title: Re: What players will leave next season. Post by: kerry red on Tuesday, March 13, 2012, 14:43:11 I honestly can't see any of the so-called big players wanting to leave.
A team on the up, certain to invest again in the summer and the Di Canio factor - who I reckon the majority of players love playing for - all means we will be adding to rather than replacing of Title: Re: What players will leave next season. Post by: walrus on Tuesday, March 13, 2012, 14:47:35 Esajas and Gabilondo I would expect, likely joined by Smith and Lanzano (he stayed in the end didn't he?). I wouldn't anticipate any first teamers leaving at this juncture provided we win promotion.
Title: Re: Re: What players will leave next season. Post by: Batch on Tuesday, March 13, 2012, 14:50:10 You have to much faith kr. I reckon a reasonable championship team and double wages would say them.
And if it did then the likes of Ritchie, ferry and caddis deserve praise for staying this year when the culpable jumped ship after somehow finding new clubs stupid enough to take them on. Title: Re: What players will leave next season. Post by: kerry red on Tuesday, March 13, 2012, 14:55:58 I don't think it is misplaced faith - the feelgood factor of this season will count for a lot.
Ritchie just has to see what would have happened if he had joined Bornmuff for the extra wonga - getting ripped into by the owner's wife at half time!! And would, say, a move to Burnley have much attraction? Or Hull et al Title: Re: What players will leave next season. Post by: Peter Venkman on Tuesday, March 13, 2012, 14:57:10 Easyjet, Gabilondo, Phil Smith, Lanzano and Magera with possibly De Vita & Kennedy, that is if they want guarenteed 1st team football, with Nathan Thompson also maybe getting fed up with getting no chances here.

Post by: Flashheart on Tuesday, March 13, 2012, 15:08:41 One of J smith/Cox & one of Cibocchi/Kennedy as they move further down the pecking order when improvements are bought in.
As for players that will want to leave, we'll just have to wait and see. Title: Re: What players will leave next season. Post by: kerry red on Tuesday, March 13, 2012, 15:13:26 I don't suppose Ritchie is bonking Wilson's wife, though. Austin was the typical Billy Big Bollocks
It's not about us selling to any club, it will be about if he wants to go and where he wants to to. Just saying Burnley, for example, aint the most attractive option Title: Re: What players will leave next season. Post by: Reg Smeeton on Tuesday, March 13, 2012, 16:40:48 A valid question Animal ? But your historical preview at the start is way off the mark...can't be arsed to right the wrongs.
It's a different game these days...very few players hang around a club for more than a couple of years, so would expect the usual clear out, with the exception of the fellas who've recently signed like Foderingham, Rooney and Benson. I agree there'll be a high turnover, but it'll be split between 'clear out' and 'players getting better offers and being sold'It's a different game these days...very few players hang around a club for more than a couple of years, so would expect the usual clear out, with the exception of the fellas who've recently signed like Foderingham, Rooney and Benson. Title: Re: What players will leave next season. Post by: Flashheart on Tuesday, March 13, 2012, 16:52:07 Can't see there being a high turnover at all, at least not for first team players.
It's only Ferry, Ritchie and Caddis likely to receive bids. Title: Re: What players will leave next season. Post by: Peter Venkman on Tuesday, March 13, 2012, 16:53:11 Can't see there being a high turnover at all, at least not for first team players. Post by: Iffy's Onion Bhaji on Tuesday, March 13, 2012, 17:14:21 Kerrouche and Magera will be off i'd have thought and almost certainly Lanzano and Esajas. Possibly Gabilondo as well.
Title: Re: What players will leave next season. Post by: DV on Tuesday, March 13, 2012, 17:15:50 Di Canio will go to West Ham and take them all with him.

Another relegation season on the way I reckon. Where did I put the Whiskey and razor blades ? Title: Re: What players will leave next season. Kerrouche is looking like an astute signing, now his work is done at Pox, if we could loan him to Crawley to weave his magic for them! Title: Re: What players will leave next season. Post by: chalkies_shorts on Tuesday, March 13, 2012, 20:13:43 I can see a fair few going - Smith and Lanzano. Kennedy, Thompson, Esajas, gabilondo, Kerrouche, Magera. I can also see Connell going.
Title: Re: What players will leave next season. Post by: otanswell on Tuesday, March 13, 2012, 20:29:08 I like Kennedy, hope he stays
Title: Re: What players will leave next season. Post by: Flashheart on Tuesday, March 13, 2012, 20:31:41 I can see a fair few going - Smith and Lanzano. Kennedy, Thompson, Esajas, gabilondo, Kerrouche, Magera. I can also see Connell going. Can't disagree with that When I said I can't see a high turnover, I meant within the first team. But there's still rather a lot of dead wood to be shifted. I'm still hoping Magera how he got to play for the Czech Rep. Title: Re: What players will leave next season. Sorry Reg you are right again, memory isn't what is was. We lost our first home match of the season and then got beat 6-2 at home to Blackpool in early September. The point I was trying to make was that this side hammered every team by a country mile in the bottom league but a few of the side were not good enough for the step up in class to the next level. It's a different game these days...very few players hang around a club for more than a couple of years, so would expect the usual clear out, with the exception of the fellas who've recently signed like Foderingham, Rooney and Benson. Lou being the guy he was wanted to give that team a chance to do the same job but Kenny Allen and David Cole who were regular members of the 102 point team were not up to the job and were let go soon after. I think it will be inevitable that fringe players will be let go but was wondering if any of the regulars this season will find next year that much more difficult. Title: Re: What players will leave next season. Post by: DA15red on Wednesday, March 14, 2012, 07:05:19 Bensons been great for us this season but wasn't getting a look in at Charlton. Prior to that he was at Dagenham and Redbridge. The point being that he is a fair league one player playing in league two. Next year we will sign a few fair championship players to play in league one.
Title: Re: What players will leave next season. Post by: Bob's Orange on Wednesday, March 14, 2012, 11:37:16 So looks like Holmes has signed on loan with a view to a permanent. I have a feeling Da Vita may move on, although he would offer good back up on the left I suppose.
Peter Leven next? Title: Re: What players will leave next season. Post by: tans on Wednesday, March 14, 2012, 11:46:00 Peter Leven next? Post by: Bob's Orange on Wednesday, March 14, 2012, 11:53:51 Now you are being naughty ;) But yeah, him or marlon pack All joking aside, I think we do need to a playmaker in central midfield and they are probably the best 2 in League 2 so why not. Both Cheltenham and Oxford could probably do with the money? Title: Re: What players will leave next season. Hmm, decisions, decisions. :) Title: Re: What players will leave next season. Post by: Flashheart on Wednesday, March 14, 2012, 11:56:58 We're too reliant on Ferry. That needs fixing
Title: Re: What players will leave next season. Post by: Peter Venkman on Wednesday, March 14, 2012, 11:57:38 Both Cheltenham and Oxford could probably do with the money? Even more so when neither of them get promoted at the end of the season :DTitle: Re: What players will leave next season. Post by: nevillew on Thursday, March 15, 2012, 09:53:45 I think Ritchie will definitely go, his head will be turned by a Championship club. I think we'll keep the rest with the possible exception of Caddis.
