Title: iPad and wireless printers Post by: stfcinbmth on Thursday, March 8, 2012, 17:53:50 Anyone got one working with the printer connected to a pc(probably hard wired) . Tis not for me, but a little jobby I have to do Saturday
From a bit of Googling you need an Airprint enabled printer, Apple really are con artists aren't they There are a couple of work arounds by the look of it, but what works for you? I don't want to be stuck there all day, I'd like to be back in time for the live match thread Title: Re: iPad and wireless printers Post by: @MacPhlea on Thursday, March 8, 2012, 22:28:01 Probably cheaper just to buy a wireless hp printer for 89 squid than spend hours trying to hack something together

Problem is he's already bought the printer, not sure as to the make band model yet It's going to be down to me to make it work, I know it is :crash: Title: Re: iPad and wireless printers Post by: @MacPhlea on Friday, March 9, 2012, 07:01:53 If he's got an HP printer I'm pretty sure there is a piece of software that allows printing through a linked PC
Failing that theres and app called print and share which should cover what he needs (albeit in a slightly clunky way compared to airprint) http://mobile.eurosmartz.com/products/printnshare.html Title: Re: iPad and wireless printers Post by: stfcinbmth on Friday, March 9, 2012, 18:49:18 If he's got an HP printer I can't be that lucky but thanks, will look at eurosmartz Title: Re: iPad and wireless printers Post by: stfcinbmth on Friday, March 9, 2012, 20:30:48 Apparently it's an HP 5515 which is Airprint compatible. Airprint wtf
Still don't reckon I'll be home in time for Sir's match day thread as it's in Dorchester Title: Re: iPad and wireless printers Post by: stfcinbmth on Sunday, March 11, 2012, 17:50:41 No problems connecting the iPads to the printer, so can recommend the HP 5515 if anyone needs a wireless printer to use with iPads. That was the easy bit
Installed router on his new business connection, turns out there's a fault on the line :crash: Rebooted the new PC a few times, after which it then failed to find the HDD and refused to boot, got to go back to manufacturer :crash: All in all a good trip to Dorchester :crash: |
