Title: Adver News: 'I had water in my eyes the day I left Swindon' Post by: News Monkey on Saturday, February 18, 2012, 07:00:04 'I had water in my eyes the day I left Swindon'

ON DECEMBER 28, 2009 Swindon eased to a 3-1 win over Yeovil. It was a result that was to move the Robins up to sixth in the table as they continued their impressive early season form.
http://www.thisisswindontownfc.co.uk/news/headlines/9538910._I_had_water_in_my_eyes_the_day_I_left_Swindon_/r/?ref=rss Title: Re: Adver News: 'I had water in my eyes the day I left Swindon' Post by: DV on Saturday, February 18, 2012, 07:09:22 Hope he comes back here and coaches one day.
He's got that sort of personality thats infectious to those around him. I think he'd make a decent coach... Title: Re: Adver News: 'I had water in my eyes the day I left Swindon' Post by: Batch on Saturday, February 18, 2012, 07:24:52 Well said DV. Peaks always seemed a top bloke.
Title: Re: Adver News: 'I had water in my eyes the day I left Swindon' Post by: Barry Scott on Saturday, February 18, 2012, 08:20:32 Genuine, honest, likeable bloke who always gave his all. At his peak, he was the kind of player di Canio would kill for. In almost every respect he was the opposite of last seasons bottlers (excusing the ones who were good enough to still be here).

We turned him into a Swindon Town supporter. Who says romance is dead in football. Title: Re: Adver News: 'I had water in my eyes the day I left Swindon' Post by: Benzel on Saturday, February 18, 2012, 09:26:00 Tears, Lee. We won't think any less of you!

He's a northern man - if Lee says it was water, it was water - no self respecting northern man cries 8)Title: Re: Adver News: 'I had water in my eyes the day I left Swindon' Post by: TheDukeOfBanbury on Saturday, February 18, 2012, 10:45:29 Legend - Loved seeing "The Coat" again Tuesday.
Smashing Bloke. Title: Re: Adver News: 'I had water in my eyes the day I left Swindon' Post by: janaage on Saturday, February 18, 2012, 11:21:14 Unfortunately Peacock lacked in one area, ability. As nice a man he may be he was a very mediocre footballer. Great PR man, knows how to play the public.

As nice a man he may be he was a very mediocre footballer. It's what I wanted to type, but didn't have the heart too. The fact that he was a bit short on ability, goes to show that effort and commitment go some way to helping you have a decent career. PR man or not, having shared a few beers with the bloke, he's exactly as he sounds in this article. He's a genuinely nice bloke who's very hard not to like and enjoy the company of. Title: Re: Adver News: 'I had water in my eyes the day I left Swindon' Post by: Arriba on Saturday, February 18, 2012, 12:12:54 A nice fella and pretty decent player who gave it his all on the pitch. Was overrated by supporters though, didn't deserve player of the year and talked utter bollocks when interviewed.
Said what people wanted to hear at the time. As his comments about being moved around the team postionally showed. Title: Re: Adver News: 'I had water in my eyes the day I left Swindon' Post by: DMR on Saturday, February 18, 2012, 12:28:16 Said what people wanted to hear at the time. This. It never ceases to amaze me how football fans everywhere lap up what players/managers/board members say as gospel. Title: Re: Adver News: 'I had water in my eyes the day I left Swindon' Post by: leefer on Saturday, February 18, 2012, 12:44:34 Waited for IT to happen with Peacock but alas for me it never did, always felt he would blossom into a real star for us but sadly it ever happened,in fact i cannot remember a memorable game he had though as has been said was a real tryer and gave his all.
Title: Re: Adver News: 'I had water in my eyes the day I left Swindon' Post by: DV on Saturday, February 18, 2012, 13:08:31 A few injuries and being swapped positionally kind of ruined him a bit here. Didnt have the legs to be a striker when he got here.
Moved to midfield, did well there - clearly missed when he wasnt in there. Then back to striker, back to midfield and back to striker again. I see where leefer is coming from in so much that he didnt have any stand out games but was clearly missed when he was out injured. Steady Eddie I suppose, similar to Vincent when he was here - most didnt realise how good he was till he was out injured. Whilst I see where DMR is coming from in so much that footballers put a spin on most things - even if what he says in these articles is slightly exaggerated I still believe there is some genuine sentiment behind it all from Peaks. I think that anyone who met him or saw him play here would agree.
