The cost of the trial, wait for it.................8 million quid  I was thinking that also, why the feck did we (the taxpayer) spend 8 MILLION chasing the tax on a measly £200,000?? Title: Re: NOT GUILTY Post by: horlock07 on Wednesday, February 8, 2012, 12:05:05 However his dog Rosie the real account holder has gone down for a 10 stretch!
Title: Re: NOT GUILTY Post by: LucienSanchez on Wednesday, February 8, 2012, 12:05:55 Huge waste of money whatever the outcome...

Title: Re: NOT GUILTY Post by: luckyluke699 on Wednesday, February 8, 2012, 12:12:40 Huge waste of money whatever the outcome... Completely sends the wrong message out to taxpayers during such a period of economic uncertainty (recession or not!). We're all in it together remember... apparently. Sorry, perhaps my previous post was misleading. My point was more questioning who in charge decided it's worth spending £8,000,000 chasing the tax (max 50% I imagine) on £200,000. In my mind, it sends the wrong message to the general taxpayer, for a case like this to have such quantities of money spent on it, guilty or innocent. Title: Re: NOT GUILTY Post by: Phil_S on Wednesday, February 8, 2012, 12:50:49 Always thought not guilty from what I've read. It needs to be proved beyond reasonable doubt. However it doesn't make financial sense for HMRC to be spending £8,000,0000 on chasing £100,000, but hey ho, it's not their money they are spending is it ! I guess they have to be seen to chase it, overwise nobody would pay any tax !
The real question I have is how the hell does a realtively short trial like this cost eight thousand lots of a thousand pounds. Whilst I agree any body found not guilty should not be liable for their own costs, their needs to be a cap on the amount that the lawyers can be paid. Title: Re: NOT GUILTY Post by: LucienSanchez on Wednesday, February 8, 2012, 12:52:24 £8m will look small fry if they collect Vodafone's tax bill...

Title: Re: NOT GUILTY Post by: Phil_S on Wednesday, February 8, 2012, 13:12:52 The investigation has been going on for 5 years. Lets assume the actual trial cost half the money, its' still way over the top. That means that the investigation cost £15,000 per week ! How many peoples would have been on it FFS Problem is that it's tax payers money, & in common with most Govn depts that means they can piss it up against a wall. Title: Re: NOT GUILTY Post by: Batch on Wednesday, February 8, 2012, 13:14:25 Problem is that it's tax payers money, Double win for Teflon man then Title: Re: NOT GUILTY Post by: DMR on Wednesday, February 8, 2012, 13:19:25 Who cares?
Any result from a footballing perspective that helps speed up the exit of cunting Capello is fine and dandy Title: Re: NOT GUILTY Post by: Arriba on Wednesday, February 8, 2012, 13:35:31 Considering Redknapp told a reporter the money was a bonus for the Crouch deal i think they were lucky. Didn't really care either way and don't want Redknapp for the England job.
