Title: Nick Watkins on BBC Wiltshire
Post by: Dozno9 on Monday, February 6, 2012, 08:34:55
Just been on, summary for those that missed it:

Going to talk to the company (from Bristol) who we rented the heaters off on Saturday as they promised 12 working heaters and 4 turned up, wants his money back.

Fast Plant in Swindon were excellent with their service in trying to help with the above problem.

PDC wanted the game on and didn't want the fixture list to become too congested.

No problem with Tuesday game and have sold 8,500 tickets so far.

He's been to a JPT meeting at Wembley in which we have been told we get 30,000 tickets, tickets stubs from Tuesdays game will not be counted.

In conversation with the Council about extending our lease, he didn't explain the details.

Undersoil heating is not a consideration at the moment.

Official tweet (10 mins ago) said that we've sold 7200, including 400 from Barnet. We should hopefully get over 9000 for this.

And at £10 a ticket. That's a great incentive for everyone to be there.

I think we're lucky that we're a club with funding and can afford to put the prices down to a tenner.

Many clubs can't do this and so hike it up. Long term this is great as Wembley will bring in more ticket and TV revenue. A great move once again by the board and NW!!

How many do people think we would take to Wembley?  Based on the fact that for the play off final we didnt get 30,000?

Added to the fact some of the day trippers will decide they have been now nad not bother going back.  Would we take much over 20,000?

We took 32500 for the PO final. If we get there, I'd expect us to take 20-25k.

I know a LOT of people that want to come to this....most non footy fans who want a day trip at Wembley, although it will depend on the ticket prices!

Surely they would be cheaper than the carling cup final tickets....

Carling Cup Final Tickets are – Cat 1 £90, Cat 2 £72, Cat 3 £56 & Cat 4 £40 (half price concessions throughout)
Allocations: Cardiff (West End) – 31,372
Allocations: Liverpool (East End) – 31,735

To be honest I bought a middle range ticket for the PO final but could of moved to pretty much anywhere. Think this time I'll be buying the cheaper ones and look to move once inside. If we get there that is !

Tickets for Chesterfield are priced at £26, £36 and £46. Not too bad considering for the play off final they were a bit more than that.

From Chesterfield site:

Adults £26, £36, £46. Concessions U17 (but only if accompanied by an adult) and senior citizens 65+ £13, £18, £23.

We'll take around 20-25,000 to this.

thats pretty reasonable, i would expect at least 25,000 at those prices.

Everyone agree on that we need to sort out a section where 'singing' fans want to sit/stand? That is IF we get there of course...

I think that would be wise. I think bottom tier behind the goal as central as possible would be good to convert in to a Town End and try to snap up the tickets there asap so the day-trippers can go elsewhere.

I was hoping to organise a section on our page so if anyone wants to sing and stand, buy tickets in 'that' area. Behind the goal would be ideal. Will look into it IF we win tomorrow  :headhurts:

Was in block 134 for the PO Final and we were stood up, trying to chant...is directly behind the goal and I suggest blocks 132-136 for those that want to stand/sing*! (*should we win tomorrow which I'm confident of)

One bloke next to me got spat on for not singing!

I see IF we get there, we would have the 'West' side again. Looked at seating plan and ideally 130-138 would be okay, depending how many singing fans there will be!

Great idea.  But with the way the tickets are released for sale online, I am not convinced this is the easiest thing to achieve?  Also bound to end up with a load of day tripper cunts in there.

Depending on tomorrow, I will send Nick Watkins and email Chris Tanner and propose the idea. Advertise fans wishing to 'sing' purchase tickets in sections 130-138 and advise other fans expect non stop singing  ;)

Will there be an area where you can sing but not stand all the time?  8) I would stand, but my young daughter wouldn't be able to see the game!

I was able to pick my block number on that ripoff Ticket service site last time...hope they aren't using that again :S admin fees were ridiculous along with P&P, a £50 seat ended up being £60 if I remember although I see the prices are less this time!

Good Idea STFC Fans, lets get the wheels in motion for a singing/standing section!

Definitely a good idea to get club involvement somehow.

If the club can have a section on the website, and box office have a couple of posters up, it should certainly help!!

As a day tripping c**t - please let me know where you are - I may want to read my paper + eat my prawn sandwich if the match is boring ............... please let me know what colour we are playing in

ps please win tomorrow - it will cost me a fortune to get to Wembley but I unavoidably missed Milwall (thankfully !) but enjoyed Sunderland & Leicester  :D

Especially after the last play off finals... phew, people got mightily upset about the concept of us playing in red instead of our L sucky white kit!

I understand the 'singing' bit, but why don't you halfwits understand that there IS NO STANDING ALLOWED.?   On that basis, I don't think there's any way the club will buy into this request.

I just had flashbacks to being told to sit down as i rose in anticipation as Austin went through on goal...

I think there should be a 'regulars' section (for want of a better word) that understand that people will get up on attacks, for corners, to abuse the ref... not necessarily stand throughout. I found the actions/reactions of some 'daytrippers' last time rather frustrating.

One or two on this thread getting a bit ahead of events...tomorrow should it go ahead, is effectively a one off game between two form teams....could go either way, so really no point considering the prospect of a future game which may very well never happen.

Singing is one thing, standing is another.

I'd prefer to stand - however, unless you propose the signing blocks are at the back then there will be people behind the blocks you've mentioned. It would be bloody stupid to suggest a standing area at the front behind the goal.

I understand the 'singing' bit, but why don't you halfwits understand that there IS NO STANDING ALLOWED.?   On that basis, I don't think there's any way the club will buy into this request.

Not my proudest moment by far - but we had a couple of corners towards the end and got told to sit down. The people behind me got a fair bit of abuse and I went a bit Delia Smith - again, heat of the moment and not the proudest thing I've ever done but to be frank, if you are not going to get on your feet and encourage the team when you are 1-0 down in a play off final with 10 minutes to go and you have a corner then you can fuck off.

It's not a question of optimism or pessimism....just common sense really. Had we done a Sarfend and entered the game with a 4-1 lead, then yes, you'd fancy us, but we didn't. So it becomes a one off game and anything can happen. Not many would have fancied Barnet to beat Brentford at Griffin Park last round, but they did.

It's probably quieter....for example last Jan when we flogged Austin and Morrison in the window, the site got 422 new members whereas this Jan when we flogged nobody, it was 71 new members.
