Title: Enter(ing) the (year of the) dragon
Post by: china red on Sunday, January 22, 2012, 14:40:04
Ok, so Bruce Lee is dead but for all those interested, I am now just over an hour away from Chinese new year.  Lots of booze, huge amounts of fireworks (like you have never seen before) and copious amounts of great Chinese food.

Happy Chinese new year to all of you, unless the Mayans were right this is supposed to be an extremely lucky year.

Personality of the dragon thanks to wikipedia.....

Magnanimous, stately, vigorous, strong, self-assured, proud, noble, direct, dignified, eccentric, intellectual, fiery, passionate, decisive, pioneering, artistic, generous, loyal. Can be tactless, arrogant, imperious, tyrannical, demanding, intolerant, dogmatic, violent, impetuous, brash.

Sounds like Paolo.

Careful. Could get yourself in trouble.

Anyway he is a monkey and this is the description....

Inventor, motivator, improviser, quick-witted, inquisitive, flexible, innovative, problem solver, self-assured, sociable, artistic, polite, dignified, competitive, objective, factual. Can be egotistical, vain, arrogant, selfish, reckless, snobbish, deceptive, manipulative, cunning, jealous, suspicious, stubborn.

The Mayans were fucking idiots.  Ooh, end of the world in 2012...but did they have anything to say about the weirdy talking blokes in the hats who arrived in big boats.  Nope...they probably should have concentrated on that.  Fucking Mayans, indeed.

The Mayans have never predicted the end of the world.

Oh, right.  I've been misinfotmed.  Did they say anything of the sort?

Nope, nada.

They had for whatever reason (can't remember now) written up calendars of the future They stopped writing up these calendars when they ended on September 2012. It had to end sometime and considering they did it for x thousand years, the date it did end is far from coincidence.

Some people have just decided to interpret it as the end of the world to help them sell books and stuff. It worked, they sold lots of books.

Cheers Lord Flashheart.  In which case I withdraw some of my vitriol aimed at the Mayans.  Still should've kept away from the Spanish though.

I didn't realise the Mayans survived until the C9th, I thought they were done and dusted BC. My knowledge of history is shocking.
