Perhaps Di Canio can invite the Football Association to the County Ground to explain their actions?

I've not heard a post-match rant like that after a victory, ever.

Let us not forget he is still grieving for his father,it seems to me though a short break would do him good.
He seems to have made hard work his goal since his dad passed away....for me he is the best thing since sliced bread, love him to bits and his workrate and determination on/off the pitch is outstanding.
He looked like a break would do him good.....only a small one though :D

So glad he's ours.  But I agree he could do with winding down as well.  I hope he's relaxing right now, reading the Sunday papers with a nice coffee.  If you are, Paolo, turn to the sports pages.  The league table makes good reading this morning.

Did he do anything wrong?

If what he says is true, no he didn't.

Either way, the way he went ballistic won't go down well with the F.A. suits. He might be missing for Leicester and/or Southend.

leefer makes a fair point above.

Did he do anything wrong?

No but he looked tired and very emotional,i think its more than a few duff refs that is getting to him.

If you read other forums apparently he is always doing something wrong.

He stands up in his technical area and tries to get messages across to his players.  WANKER
Sometimes he gets angry.  BASTARD
He waves his hands about a bit like he might be a bit, well, you know, foreign or summink.  YUCK
He tries to get his players to pass to each other.  TWAT
And sometimes the national media want to talk to him unlike manager john smitthies (Is he a football manager in division 2?  I have no idea.  Maybe I made it up, but Im sure one of the succession of burly chaps sitting in the opposition dugout may have been called that).  EVIL SCUM

He truly is the devil incarnate who is bringing the noble art of clogging a pigskin 60 yards for the big bloke to flick on to the little bloke to shin it past the oppositions fat bloke into disrepute.

In short, no PDC didnt do anything wrong.

Hope he puts his feet up today and relaxes. He did look totally drained.

Take Boss for a walk and cook yourself a nice meal Paolo ! :)

Let's not develop a siege mentality though.  If fans of other clubs want to focus on our manager, let them.  But I certainly don't want to focus on fans of other clubs focussing on our manager.

One objective this season: promotion.  If we manage this (and the signs are good at the moment), then the gripes and whinges of a few disgruntled Torquay/Oxford fans won't even register.  In Oxford's case, their own campaign has started to stutter in recent weeks...so an up-tick on the bile-ometer was always likely.  We knew that appointing PDC would attract attention.  The important thing is not to be distracted by this.

A siege mentality is not always a bad thing - Fergie's made his career out of it.

I honestly thought he was going to give the 4th official a Glasgow handshake just before going up to the stands.

Having PdC as manager certainly adds another dimension to watching a match.

Very good rant.

Seems everyone has completely over looked the fact we've won again, gained on the top 3 again and could be top after our next game.

Brilliant.

I'm sure Paolo is sat at home now laughing about all the focus his interview is getting instead of the fact we on our way to raping this division.

I did wonder whether he'd got sent off intentionally, as the game and atmosphere was flat as fuck up until that point. But on reflection, I think he is just a bit mental.

I dont think he got himself sent off intentionally - however I reckon that interview was partly done to shift focus.

I think it could've been - as someone said earlier, not sure where I read it actually - but he was seen laughing and joking about 5 minutes later. He clearly doesn't give a shit what anyone thinks.

If he is genuinely playing the media to deflect attention on his players then he's a eccentric genius.

To think, people are choosing to miss this ride. Our next manager doesn't stand a chance...

Well put, though I respect their own views its such a shame they choose to miss this journey, trips like this don't come around very often in our history. Enjoy them.

I've heard from se sauce that the next manager is already lined up. It's either rene higuita or Diego maradadona. Depends on who's in prison.

Mourinho was known for doing wild things to relieve pressure off his players and accept it on his own wide shoulders. I think Paolo could well be helping his team because the performances are often secondary, in the eyes of the media, to Paolo's "antics".

I was thinking about this earlier, when that day comes and Paolo does move on, it'll take ages to get over and I don't envy who has to take his place.

I was thinking about this earlier, when that day comes and Paolo does move on, it'll take ages to get over and I don't envy who has to take his place.

Let's see what he achieves first.  Promotion from this division is the bare minimum.  If he doesn't manage that, we'll remember him for his charisma and for his post match interviews in much the same way we remember Andy King.  A wry smile and a chuckle, maybe, but that'll be about it.  PDC has the potential to emulate Macari's achievements in the mid-1980s, but he's barely started out yet.  He'll need to realise that potential and deliver for us before he enters the Macari/Ardiles/Hoddle bracket.  For me, anyway.

Edit:  And Macari himself was ultimately succeeded by Ardiles and then by Hoddle, the only two managers ever to have taken us up to the top in our history...so I'd not worry too much on the Di Canio succession just yet.

Regardless of whether he's a genius or plain barking there is no doubt his antics got our crowd going yesterday. I think this was important because frustration was rising.

I do think he'll ultimately need to calm down, but its amusing up the point he gets a big ban.

I was sitting close to the dugout yesterday, and when i realised the ref was coming over the dugout, I could not understand it.  PdC had done nothing out of the ordinary (for him).  the Macc manager was being far more aggressive and loud. (In fact my wife had commented that she could hear him above any other noise (apart from the really infuriating pair sitting two rows behind us, who wen ton and through the match about getting rid of Ritchie, and laying into anyone who made a mistake!).

The problem was the fourth official, who clearly summoned the ref.  He had been in PdC's face right from the beginning of the match, and clearly was out to impress(!!)  the problem is that PdC is going to be singled out for every power-hungry official.  I have no doubt the FA will come down on him heavily because they won't dare not to;  i think we should drown the FA in letters of support for him.

Searching the words "Paolo di Canio" on Twitter suggests that 90% of people are fully in support of his rant, even if they don't know quite what he did to get sent off. Most are saying more managers should be like him.
