Striker hunt goes on for Di Canio

PAOLO Di Canio will have to look elsewhere for a new striker after Oxford United striker James Constable turned down a move to Swindon last night.

This worries me alot...

There has been interest in some of Town players, with Di Canio hinting that one or two could soon leave for a higher division side.

“There are a few players who will go somewhere in the next few days,” he said.

“Some have offers from League One, which is a big opportunity for the one or two of them, so we will see.”

The players are ones not involved in Paolo's plans according to Gary Rose.

D
Kerrouche then ?
To Chesterfield I've heard.

I hope it genuinely is players not currently involved.  I don't imagine Di Canio would make the comment in such a casual manner if not?

I heard it was Easyjet to Chesterfield and Kerrouche going back abroad.

That sounds more likely.

Easyjet to Chesterfield

Not a phrase I ever expected to read.

McLeod   Barnet   15
Barnett   Crawley Town   12
Grabban   Rotherham   12
Kee   Burton Albion   12
Tubbs   Crawley Town   12

League 2's top scorers, why were we even attempting to lure whats his name from Pox? If these boys above are scoring this well, then imagine what they could do with the deliveries from our existing players. Lets buy them all!

Constable has 9 in a rubbish team, so not that bad really.

The players at the top of the goalscoring charts are either not for sale or far too expensive.

Not sure why we were going for Constable, personally. I'd rather concentrate on keeping the players we want to keep, jog on the others we don't (to ease the wage bill) and let Benson and Connell convert the plethora of chances they'll get from Ritchie, Rooney and Raffa. Murray is a good sub with pace.

We have a good team spirit so if it ain't broke...

With Boateng I think our squad is complete, maybe except for a central midfielder as cover for Smith/Ferry. A loanee would do that job.

But then with Boateng joining that could free up McCormack to play in midfield if required.

I agree, though, that a midfielder should be the priority rather than another striker.

Why end a good thing in McCormack/Fint?

There's no reason to normally. But if Ferry or Smith are out for whatever reason and assuming Boateng is going to be pretty tasty it gives the option of playing McCormack in midfield.

Having Boateng provides all sorts of cover.

All across the back and as mentioned, it gives the option to move McCormack into midfield also if needed

I reckon he's here to replace nobody. And the adver seem to think the same.
