With the Southend game now arranged for Tuesday 31st Jan, it's gonna be an expensive end to the month what with the cup game on the Saturday.

Unless it's Forest, I may give the cup a miss as Leciester sounds a dire away trip after reading the comments on here  :headhurts:

February we have loads of home game.

Im going to this and not bothering with the cup game now.

This title 6-pointer is massive.

This stage of the season is where our team's stamina is going to be tested.
We're playing only 3 days after the cup 4th round whereas Sarfend will have had a good long rest since their previous game, 10 days earlier.  Hope that doesn't take its toll in this vitally important match.

I am very surprised we agreed to go their on this date, yes we are a fit side and we have some depth to the squad (hopefully even more by then) but it's a massive game for us and we shouldn't be giving Southend the advantage of 10 days rest with us potentially knackered after a big cup game. Just look at our performance at Barnet, it takes it out of the players. I'm a little concerned with our February schedule in general, two games a week for something like 6 weeks in a row, it's a big test for Paolo and the players.

I have been to Roots hall twice and seen us lose both times.  I have also never been so cold in my entire life.

I would like to go to this but cannot help thinking that my dreadful away record will continue!

Looking forward to this. Local game for me. We need to win to really put the pressure on at the top. Southend fans are far too pleased with themselves at the moment so it will be good to beat them... again.

Apparently there is an awesome chip shop by the ground at Roots Hall. I will have to sample some.

Best chips i've ever had in England were Aldeburgh in Suffolk or the Wetherby Whaler in West Yorkshire.

There was definitely a big queue outside that chip shop before the JPT game so it seemed very popular but I didn't have enough time to sample any of it that day.

Will have to build that into the plan for the 31st.

Would rather get to Southend early and get in the pub. All the others were home only.  >:(

The train journey on a Tuesday from Liverpool Street was sooo boring with all the office types going back to Gavin and Smiffy land.

Hope the London reds have one in mind!  ;)

Would be interested to know which pubs are best for away fans.

I haven't been there for a few years but we used to go in the supporters club in the stand.

Last time I went we went in the Wetherspoons opposite Southend Central station. Ran into a few Norwegian blokes (not sonicyouth) and had a chat about Fjortoft.

Moved on to a pub just over the road from the chippy mentioned. Understand that one might be closed now though or home fans only.

Last time I went, a few weeks ago in the paint pot, town fans were in the Blue Boar or something similar.

Edit : Just looked it up, was defo the Blue Boar.

One's closed. the other is designated for home fans, but if you can beat the bouncers arriving they let you stay in there, or they did us anyway.

What time did you get in there SR?

I'm sure everyone knows but Prittlewell Station is much closer to the ground than Southend station. Which pub is best seems a more difficult question. Any thoughts? Can't wait- need to win this one and can't see why we shouldn't.

I looked at going to this but couldn't find any trains to get home.  Am I just being thick?  What is everyone else doing train wise?

You can't get back on a normal advance ticket, not enough time for the tube, in reality you can do it on an open ticket if you are lucky with trains and tubes but you

Thought as much.  Can't risk not being able to get home.  Am already in the bad books with the Mrs due to spending too much time out watching the football.

Only 206 sold for this so far which us a shame seeing how big a game it is. If only it was on a Saturday!

Not too bad really, a lot people dont bother buying in advance for games like this when we have no chance of selling out the allocation.

I reckon we will take about 5/600ish which wouldn't be bad for a trek across the country on what looks like being a bloody cold night.

I'm going and have not bought in advance. For me, by the time £1 booking is added on, plus telephone costs and the likely possibility ticket will be lost in the post it's just easier to pay on day.

After missing Saturday I'm still hoping.

I think we will end up taking over 500 but just wish we could have played it on a Saturday to have 1000 odd town fans there as it would have made for a better atmosphere!

Always going to struggle to get massive numbers to this one, especially midweek as you say. Three days after Leicester and with the JPT game next week as well people's wallets and free time only stretch so far.

I'm coming out of my boycott for this, have been missing STFC, read some recent PDC interviews that have made me feel a lot less uneasy about coming back. A cold Roots Hall on a Tuesday night seemed like a hard core reintroduction. Will be good to see some of you again, it's been too long.

Going to see a second specialist as PDC wasn't impressed with the first one!
