Do you think they deserve a break though arriba? If they're good enough then surely it's obvious (to a coach)?

I really don't think we should be giving youngsters time in the first team because they've looked OK playing with other kids and half-arsed reserves. They should earn their place like the rest of the squad and if they've trained with the squad their standard is surely able to be contrasted against those already at the expected level.

Good players stand out - Henshall, Jutkiewicz, Mills, Morrison, Tozer, Pook, Kennedy, Holgate, Macklin, Zebroski, Carayol. Some of them were taken before they got a chance (such was their ability) and others, even after having a chance and seeming to be good enough, proved to not be so (either after moving on to bigger things, or lesser things). I'd say in some respects the past shows that we've yet to get it wrong.

No real arguement with what you say here to be honest. I'm just saying it's hard for local lads to come through. I do think some deserve a chance but don't get it though. Managers won't risk throwing them in alot of the time as it is too much a risk for the lad and their own job as manager.

I have always said that i honestly believe that the nature of our club in recent years has not benefited the youth team players we have had.

By that what i mean is that most seasons we tend to be involved in some sort of promotion race or relegation scrap until nearly the end of the season meaning the managers we have had are reluctant to play them and kill the confidence if they don't perform.

Unfortunatly it means we end up keeping them for that bit too long and they stop developing meaning they end up going to clubslike salisbury

Between what you say here and what DRS says, I now understand where you're coming from. I mistook what you said to mean we should be playing them. :)
