Title: New car stereo
Post by: DMR on Friday, January 13, 2012, 11:27:24
Good day friends

I want to out a new stereo in my car, that much I can manage, but want it to work with the steering wheel controls. As far as I can cobble together from Google I need some sort of lead/cable,

Has anyone got any experience with this, are they pretty generic or really specific to the car/stereo?

You need an ISO connector specific to your car to connect the stereo to the car's wiring and a seperate connector (again specific to your car) for the steering wheel controls.

Go to Halfords and ask them. Had a similar problem with my car years ago and got the kit from there

Piece of piss. Buy the ISO lead specific to your car make and then a patch lead which connects to that and the stereo.

You need to make sure your stereo has a remote control lead socket on the back of the stereo as cheaper ones don't always have them. Looks like a headphones socket.

Leads aren't cheap, you're looking at 30 quid all in.

As said before get a lead that plugs into the back of the stereo and into the lead coming from your steering wheel.

I did it with my CRV and it was simple - but not cheap as Si said you'll be looking at £30+

I wouldn't use Halfords - google it and buy on line
