Title: Magera. Post by: leefer on Saturday, December 31, 2011, 18:24:54 First of all i am the first to admit that The man has been poor so far.....but the stick he is getting is uncalled for so early in his Town career surely :hmmm:
Paolo is picking him so he knows he will come good....and also his attitude and training is spot on otherwise he would be history. He hasn't even started ten matches and granted people are only commenting on what they have seen, but surely he cannot be judged on less than ten matches. He isn't a Connell,Murray or Kerrouche.....putting good shifts in but he is quality and believe me the cream always comes to the top eventually....he will do the biz for us,no doubt about it. Its not a post to knock the people who don't rate him......more of a post of asking the fans to give him support because thats what he needs. :D Title: Re: Magera. Post by: Bogus Dave on Saturday, December 31, 2011, 18:32:35 He didn't play as an out and out striker in romania/czech republic did he? A fact handily ignored/missed by the many who slate him.
Must admit I don't understand the claims he's lazy either. I've seen him track back to the edge of our own box in matches to win the ball back. I will admit he looks a couple of paces behind the play, but i'll readily put that down to the fact it's a new country for him, and he's either been injured or coming back from injury since he's signed. Give him time, and he'll come good. Title: Re: Magera. Post by: tans on Saturday, December 31, 2011, 19:12:49 What bogus dave said.
Title: Re: Magera. Post by: Reg Smeeton on Saturday, December 31, 2011, 19:32:56 Our fans have to have a scapegoat at the moment it's Magera...I agree with everything you say Leefer.
Title: Re: Magera. Post by: Mister Lorenzo on Saturday, December 31, 2011, 19:36:38 He was shit today though, we looked much better when Connell replaced him for the second half.

If you dont he'll be a passenger. I'd still like to see him play upfront with Kerrouche but I doubt that is going to happen anytime soon. I hope it works out here for him in the end. Title: Re: Magera. Post by: chalkies_shorts on Saturday, December 31, 2011, 21:15:40 I think once we get another strker in he'll be out of the picture. I'm one of the ones slating him but during the game i'll get behind him. If we can ship him out then i wouldn't pass up the opportunity.
Title: Re: Magera. Post by: Ƭ̵̬̊: The Artist Formerly Known as CWIG on Sunday, January 1, 2012, 01:49:59 I think he is being made a bit of a scapegoat and being written off too early, but having said that recent performances haven't been good enough
Title: Re: Magera. Post by: Benzel on Sunday, January 1, 2012, 09:32:27 I don't think he did that bad yesterday. Nobody would mention anything good he did, yet the moment he made an error. FUCK SAKE LUKAS.
He and Risser did ok yesterday. Don't think there's any need for us to have a scapegoat, we should all be pulling in the same direction and supporting everyone. Must feel crappy being out of form in a performing side. Title: Re: Magera. Post by: Batch on Sunday, January 1, 2012, 09:48:06 I think there is more to Magera than we have seen. Problem is that expectation is very high because he was a recent Czech international. He has looked nowhere near that class. He also doesn't look very threatening near goal - this may not be part of his normal game but he was signed as a striker so again reality is not meeting expectation. I hope he comes good, every now and again he plays a ball that makes you think he has it in him to.
Risser for me is a different story. As far as I can see he can head the ball and he can shoot. Other than that he has looked like a shit Michael Pook. I hope I'm wrong, he seems like a nice honest bloke, but footballer no. Title: Re: Magera. Post by: Benzel on Sunday, January 1, 2012, 09:50:43 Risser was doing the job that Paolo wanted him to do yesterday though. We knew what we were gonna get from Northampton and he was winning a lot in the air. Ok so he made a hash of a couple of things but he also played so great balls out to Raffa - and some shit ones too, not a starter but definitely a horse for a particular course.
Title: Re: Magera. Post by: Batch on Sunday, January 1, 2012, 10:12:58 but he also played so great balls out to Raffa - I didn't really pick up on that. Maybe my cynicism is blinding me! There was a good comedy moment - which can happen to any player - where he was about to leather the ball but hit it with his standing leg and ended up swinging a practice tee shot instead. That made me laugh. On his sending off, it looked an automatic red straight away but I don't think he meant it. I think he was just very slow trying to get to the ball. Anyway, enough about Risser in a Megera thread. Title: Re: Magera. I think it's a case of struggling with the rush and thunder of Div 2 football. I hope he makes it like all players in the Swindon shirt. As for the disgraceful comments aimed at Ritchie that was crazy. My Cobbler mate said that Ritchie (despite the mistake which he held up his hands), McCormack and Caddis looked class above everyone else on the field. I wish our fans would support and get behind the players for 90 minutes. After the whistle sure then moan. Title: Re: Magera. Post by: sonicyouth on Sunday, January 1, 2012, 11:17:02 Obviously I hope he comes good and proves us all wrong but so far I've seen very little to suggest that he will do so and whilst we persevere in playing him we're effectively carrying a passenger at present.
I can't comment on his performances in training - presumably he works very hard otherwise Di Canio wouldn't select him - but although he has shown some moments of quality, he's not done enough for me. I don't think he works hard enough, his first touch at times is awful and he doesn't look like a striker/forward so as others have suggested perhaps he should be told to play a bit deeper? Some of the abuse he is getting is out of order - overheard someone shout to him to get back on the bus as they disembarked at Sixfields yesterday. Title: Re: Magera. Post by: Swindon Please Win on Sunday, January 1, 2012, 11:18:24 I don't think we would be having this debate if he didn't get injured after the Port Vale game, after coming back from another injury he just seems to be shot of confidence.
Title: Re: Magera. Post by: DRS on Sunday, January 1, 2012, 11:24:53 Did he miss the bus sonic?
Title: Re: Magera. Post by: Peter Venkman on Sunday, January 1, 2012, 11:36:23 I feel Magera may well go the same was as Pericard, not a bad player but not taken to by the fans because hes not scoring shed loads of goals.
I have only seen glimpses of him and so cannot fully judge but he does seem a little off the pace from what I have seen, but he MUST have something in training because PdC keeps picking him, and you dont get caps for Czech Republic without them being justified. I do hope he comes good but we do need to find his best position to benefit the team. Title: Re: Magera. Title: Re: Magera. Post by: Bathtime on Tuesday, February 21, 2012, 10:04:56 could be on his way back to Eastern Europe on loan according to BBC Radio Swindon If only he could play like he does on Football Manager.....very disappointing expensive signing, which seems to have been a gamble that hasn`t paid off. Maybe once we have secured automatic promotion he could play when more relaxed. Possibly League 1 would suit his style more. Personnally I can`t see him playing much for us again.... :hmmm: Title: Re: Magera. Post by: Processed Beats on Tuesday, February 21, 2012, 10:08:34 Just seems to have not worked out for him.
He's shown a few signs of quality, namely in games vs Rotherham and Port Vale, and did well when he came on against Wigan but overall hasn't impressed me, seeming lazy and lethargic for a supposes Czech international. If it frees up wages to sign another striker on loan then this could very much work in our favour. Title: Re: Magera. Post by: wheretherealredsare on Tuesday, February 21, 2012, 19:38:19 could be on his way back to Eastern Europe on loan according to BBC Radio Swindon To Banik Ostrava for the rest of the season : http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/17112034 Title: Re: Magera. Post by: Frigby Daser on Wednesday, February 22, 2012, 22:02:11 Made me laugh, from the Banik Ostrava site:
Great stunt succeeded Banik new shareholders. The club agreed to the arrival of Luke Mager! Twenty-nine attacker thus returns to Ostrava after three and a half years, yet Banik will be lent by the end of the season and wants to help the team coach Paul Malury to the rescue. If the club gets enough time ITC headquarters of the English Association, is a quadruple Czech national team ready to play next Saturday against Jablonec to match! "It should be noted that a large quota of work in the arrival of Luke Mager did Marek Jankulovski. Graduated series of phone calls Swindon manager with Italian Paolo Di Canio and negotiated that we Luke the end of the release. Then it was on our agreement with the player and then we came very quickly. Meeting with Lukas was very fair, "said Chairman Peter Šafarčík. Old-new face would be the first to report Bazaly on Wednesday, today Lukas Magera just returned home from England. "So what's in these hectic days in Banik walk, happened and it really is arranged literally overnight. But I'm glad that we managed to be resolved before the deadline transfers. A player of his qualities will undoubtedly help us, "said Peter Šafarčík. Lower pupil Beneš in Banik advocated for some time, he also rebounded on loan to Kladno, but then returned to Bazaly and together with Vaclav Svěrkošem created one of the best tandems in the league firing. I therefore went to the summer of 2008 when a wealthy Romanian Timisoara. When the club last year, got into trouble, headed lanky striker as a free agent in Swindon Town, acting in the fourth English league. |
