Yeah was due to go back on Friday but was reported last week on the BBC site that he was due to extend the loan until May.

So is this a routine recall because his loan is up or something less good?

Bit of a blow

A bit of digging suggests Calum Woods (one of the Uddersfiled LBs) is injured for 3+ weeks, so it wouldn't be a great surprise if this recall is at least for that period if not permanent :(

More important I would suggest to keep Foderingham than Ridehalgh. I thought that Kennedy played well in the couple of games that were on TV and streamed. It seemed as if PDC had confidence in Cibbocci recently until his foul throw balls ups. So, it would seem as if we have decent enough cover - Or have I got it wrong?

Agree with the principle NMH, but the back 4 aren't conceding many so don't want to risk unsettling it!

Kennedy did very well against 'udders defending one on one but he seems less certain when he doesn't have a winger and forwards off the line. Chibbochi just looks poor- like an average centre back out of position. And his distribution is terrible.

So has he gone back back? Or just loan expired back? because it doesn't seem conclusive either way???

To be confirmed.

Read of footballforums that he's been recalled but there's a good chance we'll see him back in mid-jan.

Certainly sounds like he's not coming back as soon as the transfer window reopens but hopefully a few weeks downline he'll be allowed to come back if not featuring in Hudds first team.

I thought it was common knowledge that he was going back in January.

Anyway, the disruption to our settled back 5 does concern me a bit.  Defensively he is far better than Kennedy although we will get a bit more attacking threat now.  Chibbochi is clearly a center back rather than full back, his best performance was at CB when he came on as an early sub in home game earlier this season, cant remember who it was against but he was pretty impressive.

Common knowledge his loan ran out, but it was hoped we could just extend it.

Was being reported last week that we were hoping to extend to end of season from 1 jan - so only missing for northampton game.  Now looking likely to be a few more weeks at least.
I agree that Kennedy is decent replacement for him and that our main focus needs to be on strengthening elsewhere in the team but it could well be that PdC seeks another loanee at LB if Ridehalgh is unable to return in a few weeks time.

I hope Kennedy is given another chance. Cibbocchi was terrible against Rovers and hasn't impressed all season.

Kennedy did just fine in the 4-1 thrashing of Huddersfield. I think he is ready for another run in the team.

Still hope Ridehalgh comes back in a few weeks though.

Looks like Ridehalgh won't be returning according to Gary Rose. Bit of a blow but at least we now have all of January to look for a new LB. I'd ship out Comazzi and use Chibocci as a CB to be honest.

Ah the downside of loan signings. He did his bit.

I'm sure Huddersfield will be over-the-moon with his progress and perhaps they'll be able to do business with us again.

Shame,  a very solid player - he really seemed to put the effort in every game, fairly rare for a loanee.

Hopefully Kennedy has learned a few defensive positioning tips off of him - as it seemed to me that this was Kennedy's only real failing at LB

Title: Re: Ridehalgh
Post by: Batch on Wednesday, December 28, 2011, 17:18:20
I think PDC said in the past that Kennedy whilst being a good player wasn't "strong" -hence De Vita being put on the wing to help out defensively. Personally I though Kennedy had a fine game v Huddersfield and he can sure put in a wicked cross.

Ciobocci impressed me in one of the night games he played at the County Ground, may have been AFC Wimbledon in the JPT but I could be wrong. Sounds like he had a 'mare at Rovers though.

But at least we have options.

A steady signing, did his job. No issues with Kennedy slotting into his place to be honest. Signing a goalscorer is the more pressing issue for me(another attempt for Benson maybe?)

He did that in July! He's played since. And not very well, it seems.

I think losing Ridehalgh is a bit of a blow really. I have been so impressed with him. So strong in the tackle and a great left back.
Hoping that Kennedy can step up to the position. As has been mentioned was impressive against Udders but it is the away games I am a little concerned with.

Title: Re: Ridehalgh
Post by: joteddyred on Wednesday, December 28, 2011, 22:34:31
I think some people are underestimating how unsettling losing Ridehalgh could be.  His absence at Bristol Rovers was notable and Cibbochi was shite as his replacement.  I'd like to see Kennedy get the nod over him, but still have doubts as to his defensive positioning at times.  Hopefully this has improved over the last couple of months?

With rumours of Huddersfield being in for Leon Clarke, anyone else think Huddersfield have probably recalled him to get some leverage in the deal? Part exchange perhaps?

Title: Re: Ridehalgh

I was thinking along the same lines - we'd be crazy if we let them have Clarke on a free, rather than a swap deal.

Am I right in thinking that a player can only be signed on a short term loan deal for an accumulative period of three months in a season? If so Ridehalgh would need to be signed on a season long loan deal and Huddersfield wouldn't be able to recall him so this might be a stumbling block.

Unless my understanding of the rules are wrong, of course...

The 93 day limit applies to emergency loans, not to standard loans (which are for either half or a full season).

Guessing Ridehalgh was an emergency loan? The rules suggest a standard loan must cover the period between the transfer windows, though it isn't 100% clear....

So if we do sign Ridehalgh again it will need to happen prior to the end of the transfer window and be a standard loan deal until the end of the season whereby Huddersfield won't be able to recall him?

Good luck to Ridehalgh. In a similar vein to another fullback, Stephen Darby, he gave his all while he was here! The logical next step from a Huddersfield point of view is for him to play games in League One now.
