Lalbagh.. I'm a complete snob when it comes to curry & I have to agree that Lalbagh is prob the best delivered curry in swindon ( Dhansak & Jalfrezi are my faves)
They also send me Christmas cards every year but have yet to spell my name right

Went to the Mela last night, was very impressed. Probably the best Indian meal i've had in Swindon.

(I know they don't deliver, but they do takeaways if you're willing to collect)

Being the son of an anglo Indian, I make my own, with a small aubergine.....

Best done the day before and left overnight to infuse the spices, which gives the lager time to chill and the loo roll time to get to freezer temperature  ;)

Fry your own popadums, get the ones with seeds in from the Indian shops, jar of lime pickle, mangle chutney, creme fraich or sour cream with a dollop of mint sauce for starters yum yum.

I reckon Monsoon on Faringdon Road are the best, they do delivery. Pretty certain they've got something to do with Mela in Old Town - family or friends or same owner or something like that. The dhansak in Monsoon is the best ever, closely followed by Mela.

Know someone who had their card details stolen from mela.(was about 5 years ago to be fair)

Curry Cottage used to be my takeaway of choice, they've been poor recently though.

Why. What's changed?
Had one 2 weeks ago and it was as good as it usually is. Only issue i have had is the time it takes to deliver is sometimes long on busy days.

Surprised at the number of people talking about Dhansak, it's pretty much my favourite curry and I thought I was one of the only ones who ate it. I managed to convince a few friends to try one of late though and they're all realising it's the sexiest.

I now want a curry, but because I'm being really healthy in the build up to xmas I might have to ignore my cravings. :(

Bhuna is my usual. Dhansak when I fancy something a bit spicier.

A perfect dhansak is hard to find but when you do it is worth the wait. Needs to be hot enough to almost make your eyes water whilst not being uncomfortable, in effect the perfect level of hotness. Eating the perfect dhansak is the closest I'll ever come to heaven.

I also need a curry now as a result of this thread. Think it will be from Mela after a few beers in Old Town tonight.

I always think a curry should make you cry, so I ask for it hot - although I agree with you in part, because it's such a tasty curry it's a shame to ruin it.

I found one that was far nicer than I expected, which is a takeaway in Moredon called Fahed's. I've just ordered myself a Dhansak. Get in.

Did that used to be Spicy Temptations? Used to use that quite a bit but gave up on it when we had a few very greasy curries from there. Been using Curry Cottage since.

Don't know Batch, it's the same area so it could be, but I'd never bought a curry from that neck of the woods before Fahed's.

Its between the chippy and kebab place :)

Will give it another go again if Curry Cottage is on the slide.

Just polished off tonights delivery from curry cottage. Don't get the critisism of the place as i use it at least twice a month and have many different curries from there. 4 of us in my house and we all have different things(apart from the mrs who always has a balti)and it's always lovely.
They even said it would be over an hour tonight and it turned up after 50 mins.

Anyone know how talktalk is nowadays? Another man who loves his curry.

The menu says, 1 Moredon road and having now eaten it (delivered in 19 minutes?!) I'd say it was decent, not outstanding, but tasty and excessively filling.

"Touché" makes me smile and think of White Goodman in the hope I remember to use it out of context and without any grounds at least once.

Seeing as you all wet yourselves over it, what's the difference between a dhansak and a normal curry like a chicken madras?

(lamb is obviously for sick cunts, poor little boo)

The ingredients.

Not quite sure why you think a dhansak is an abnormal curry, it's just another type of curry.

Never had oily food from there but have from other curry establishments. Their food is very tasty imo,but si pie said the same as you so maybe my palate aint all that. I do agree on portion sizes for certain curries though.

A Dhansak is medium hot, slightly sweet and has lentils in it. Very tasty. My favourite Indian curry.

I get mine from the Taj Mahal in West Swindon now. Only snag is that they don't deliver.

Do tend to be on the milder side unless you ask for more spice, but a decent flavour.
