I would settle for having him on loan for the rest of the season but getting him perm would be brilliant.

Seeing as he is at best 3rd choice at Palace and his contract is up in the summer, it's unlikely they'd block the move if it is what Foderingham wanted. Otherwise he'd turn down the contact and leave for fuck all in the summer.

It's a bit sad if that is what excites you about us signing him ::)

Maybe I'm jumping to conclusions but his twitter posts seem to suggest he'll be signing permanently in January.

Plus he was asking for advice on Mercedes SLK's, suggests he's signing a decent contract to afford a new car like that.

Bit of a girls car tbh unless he meant an SLR in which case we've offered him too much. Would love to see him sign regardless of the letter

It was a Mercedes SLK AMG he was asking about, which would suggest we offered him far too much (if we have).

Reading his tweets I can't see how he's saying or suggesting he's signing for us on a perm in Jan, unless I'm missing something obvious.

Not 100% sure if he will be tall enough to go to the very top level, but it would certainly be a brilliant signing if we can get him in January.

There was some other stuff, like "let's see what happens in January, smiley face" and "not ruling anything out, anything is possible in January". Maybe he's just fucking with us though.

My main concern about him is that not only does he watch Eastenders, but he tweets about it as well.

Are you more of a Corrie fellow?

Obviously there is always a risk of a Brezovan (though injury did that IMHO), but I can't believe how assured he's looked given how young he is. The defence might have improved since August, but he's been a part of that.

I can understand the arguement about not being very tall, but neither was Shay Given, and he's done alright.  Also, I sure that keeper that saved loads of pens for Ipswich back in the day was a short arse.

Apparently Wes is 6'1" - according to Wikipedia? I thought he was 5'11", so at 6'1" he's the same as Given and bigger than Barthez. They've not done too badly.

Don't remember Cooper being a 'short arse'. Wasn't as big as Joe Corrigan, but didn't think he was Warwick Davis or anything!

Indeed. He's stopping the ball from going in the which is I believe, the main requirement for a goalkeeper. I don't see why he shouldn't be successful at a higher level either. It's not as if the goals get bigger ???

I meant for a keeper, but yes, perhaps short arse was overdoing it a bit.

At the PdC evening, Jeremy Wray explained that we have got a very favourable loan arrangement with Palace as they will pay his wages as long as Wes is in the team. Wray suggested they didn't want to fall out with Palace on this and that Palace rate him.

If we can get him on loan for the rest of the season, then why pay a fee for him now when Wes is out of contract in the summer and a lower tribunal fee or even free. If we get promoted, then the prospect of regular football at League 1 level might be more appealing than Palace's reserves. Of course, the risk is another club come in for him.

Of course, Palace owe us a decent keeper as we let them have Fraser for nothing in 1998 (cheers Rikki and McMahon)

I met Paul Cooper years ago and I was much taller than him and I am 5 foot 11, I also remember meeting Shay Given and no way was he 6 foot 1, Scott Endersby was "only" 5 foot 9 and another old keeper of ours Chris Ogden was only 5 foot 8.

Footballers (especially keepers) are always listed taller than they actually are. Daniel Sturridge is down as 6ft 2 for example. Shay Given isn't 6ft 1 either. Wes looks shorter than 6ft 1 to be honest.

Flint was on Wikipedia as 6'8", it now says 6'5.5", yet Oakley, who's 6'6" is shorter than Flint (according to Bodin)?

Wes just tweeted that Liam Ridalgh nearly just killed them both hitting a puddle on the motorway!!!

Surely we should use the same practice as the Government and Royal Family and not allow more than one of our excellent current back five to travel in the same vehicle!!!!

Come on Paolo, sort it out!!
