  TOWN’S past and present greats are set to be honoured ahead of this weekend’s game against Morecambe as the club launches its official Hall of Fame.

Another good move by the club, be interesting to see the remainder. Would hope once the new ground gets moving we'll have a few statues dotted around.

I've seen Bodin and Trollope play but I never had the good fortune to see Rogers play. However, I used to be a manager of a local boys team and he was our president so I met him quite a few times. He has always had a lot of time for local football and is a true gent and legend. And what can you say about Trollope? What would you give for club loyalty like that these days? Bodin "The Rat" deserves legend status for that penalty alone.......

Who else would be stone-wallers for our hall of fame? Surprised Harold Flemming wasn't in the first inductees. Him, Shaun Taylor and Mike Summerbee next for me.

Absolutely nothing against bodin at all he deserves his place but i would have Calderwood before him but that isjust my opinion

David Moss for me.....loved him to bits....is he on the list?

Just noticed that these days he is chief scout for the Liverpool Acedemy.

Hope they do something to recognise Stan Harland in the future, as the only Town captain to capture a major trophy.

Both Mayes and Rowland, two of my favourites.

Kenny Stroud. Classiest defender I've seen. And he scored some great goals too.

Was at the game and still enjoy watching Strouds goal v Everton on you tube. shame I wasn't in the Town End though !

Bodin seems a strange choice over Fleming. Also strange they've seemingly limited it to players, bit unfair on Sam Allen who surely deserves the honour more than most and arguably should have been first on the list.

They did these three first as they're on the committee, can't really have two and not the other, respect.

Hoddle.  Short lived, but completely wonderful while he was here.  I'd like to see Taylor and Calderwood as well. 

Most of all though, quality over quantity - please have Micky Hazard in there.  The best player I've ever seen in a Town shirt.

Its difficult to separate legend from favourite players from cult hero from..you get the idea with that.

I'd have OST, not sure he's quite legend, but to me as much of a legend as Bodin.

Peter Noble, Harry Morris. Maurice Owen, Peter Downsborough, Frank Burrows, Joe Butler, Roger Smart to add to those already mentioned and obviously Steve White. I'm sure there are several others. David Moss is excluded because he was Asst manager at the Scummers.

Unless you're going to admit scores of players to the Hall of Fame, which would devalue the exercise, I would personally set a criterion that the player must have contributed to a successful event (promotion, trophy win) or period in the club's history.  In 20 years from now, I'm sure Cox and Parkin will still be remembered fondly by those of us old enough - but the younger generation would probably ask what exactly did these players achieve for the club?  For that reason, I'm not sure you can put them in the same bracket as Harold Fleming (FA Cup semi-finalist), Don Rogers (League Cup winner/deity) or Shaun Taylor (captained us to the Premiership).

Agreed. The way I see it a 'Hall of Fame' isn't necessarily just the best players to have played for the club, but those who tell the story of the club's history. Good as Cox and Parkin were, I'm not sure they were here long enough/did enough in terms of club achievement to warrant consideration at the moment. I would echo a lot of the names put forward so far, apart from the initial three inductees I think Fleming, Digby, Taylor, Calderwood and Chalkie White would be high up on my list.

Whilst it wasnt a club achievement as such SSP hit 20+ goals 3 seasons in row, that cant be that much of a regular occurrence

....and Cox hit 30+ again, not something we seen often at Town.

Steve White deserves a mention.
A double against Gillingscum in the div 3 play off final.
Scored 27 goals in the promotion season of 1990.
And won us the penalty to see us past Leicester.
