Title: Spatula
Post by: Boy About Town on Saturday, December 3, 2011, 18:55:52
Was allegedly in the crowd for the game. I assume the home crowd. Why would he be there, does anyone know? Did anyone have the misfortune of seeing the Harvey look alike?

No, Jordan Pavett was in with the away fans though.

I have to admit that when considering the goals he's scored for Chesterfield, if it was announced that he and Di Canio had 'made up' then I wouldn't be totally against his return.

This is purely on the basis that he was up for it though.

If he and Di canio can sort their differences out then he could come good for us.

Di Canio strikes me as the sort who, once he is pissed off with someone he stays pissed off. Having said that, Clarke probably is exactly the striker we are looking for so if they do kiss and and make up I'm all for it.

I would say that Di Canio is a 'heat of the moment' sort of chap.

We shall see. For all we know Clarke could have been at the game to negotiate his way out!

I'd have said the opposite.

Bit of time to calm down and an apology and he'll be hugging Clarke and kissing him on the cheeks.

If he and Di canio can sort their differences out then he could come good for us.

It would undermine all the discipline and teamwork Di Canio has installed in the squad.

We have to reward the players who submitted themselves to the hard work at the start of the season.

Spot on. We don't need his goals anywya.

Yes.

But as you've said, we need to get out of this division and if L.C. can score the goals...?

We don't know what really went on behind-the-scenes - apart from Di Canio's irate criticisms immediately after the incident. L.C. was punished and it was lesson probably for the whole squad.

As long as he's on our wage bill, we might not have a choice.

I'd say its up to Clarke.

If he comes back, tail between his legs, apologizes and buys into the Di Canio ethos then I think we'll take him back.

If any player doesnt buy into the Di Canio way - then they wont be wanted here and will be got shot of. FACT!

I'd take him back if he gave assurances that he'd knuckle down (and followed through with it). He's the sort of player who would score horrible scrappy goals and that's what I think we're missing.

I agree. We'd have won by more than 1 goal with him in the side today.

Lets cash in. It might work out if he came back, but it might go horrendously. Why take that risk? Di Canio is in the best position to judge this one though I suppose. If he does take him back, it'll show he really, really rates him, because he'll look a little bit silly for going back on what he said.

From what I can gather (I could be wrong and probably am) it is an he-he-larious play on words...i.e. Petula Clark / Spatula Clark.

As I say, I'm probably wrong but no fucker will explain it to me so that's the best I can come up with  ::)

I've heard a lot on of shit. Alot of it on here too. I would quibble the 80% claim should be slightly higher.

Would not be surprised if he was paid more than our proper players though.

Post by: Peter Venkman on Saturday, December 3, 2011, 22:23:27
His 3 month loan is up on the 9th December so i tlooks like hes played his last game for Chesterfield, maybe hes made up the differences with PdC, maybe not, maybe hes about to sign for Clochester?

If, and its a big IF, hes made up with Paolo then I would accept him back, not with open arms, for now, but if hes proved he will eat humble pie and can train to the level accepted and he comes in and scores goals and doesn't disrupt the team morale then I would put it behind him.

This was posted on a Col U forum. They were talking about him being at the game as well. The bloke sounds as confused as I am ???

Are you sure it was him ?, Swindon forum were talking about Leon 'Spatula' being there. At first I thought that was a local nickname/slur but in fact Spatula was signed from QPR and then fell out with Di Canio.
Clarke would be a good shout, Di Canio has said he will never play for STFC whilst he is in charge and had signed a two year contract in the summer. 9 in 13 for Chesterfield.

Ward was at Wolves 98-03 when Clarke was coming through the ranks. I'd be happy if JW's last input before being moved upstairs (to save redundancy) was to get Clarke to sign.

To be honest I wouldn't have him back now. In fact as soon as he went we seemed to pick up and have got a great record since he went on loan. I honestly think we don't need him now either. Having said that if Jervis is going back in January and De Vita is now going to be used soley on the left wing then that would only leave us with Magera, Kerrouche and Connell with Murray on loan (assuming he stays on of course).

Still plenty of scope for both Timlin and Clarke to return to be honest. I'm hoping neither do though.

I think PDC will point to the Clarke incident as one of the turning points of his managerial education. We've kicked on since he's gone, the team are playing as a team and I can't imagine he'll be welcomed back.

I cannot envisage a situation where Mr L Clarke will be welcomed back to the CG more than likely it is being arranged where and when he will train until something get's sorted in January as I cannot see him being wanted at 1st team training, we've done well without him and we don't need prima donnas who only want to play and not train properly

Crikey, you are pretty close to me then, as I am in Clacton (well, Holland soapy tit wank).  I'll definitely be there for the league game also, but thought tomorrow was a good chance to take the boys to their first away game as shouldn't be too busy.

I think you are right, it was a 3 month that started on Sept 9th.

Interestingly the Chesterfield fans aren't all 100% sure they should sign him on a perm. I'd have though his goal tally would speak for itself, but I guess there is more to the game than just goals:
