Has anybody tried the new fish restuarant part-time in the back of the kings. I've heard good fish cooked well delicious. Much better than the old bank.

Old Bank is the one on Wood Street near McKenzies and the Kings. Opposite the lovely Spanish and French restaurants and Baker street.

There are few places I'd less like to go to than The Old Bank at any time, let alone after a football match.

I went there once it was over priced and full of twats, never again.

Never been in there. If it's like Mckenzies-longs then it's not for me.

It's really cramped on both the upper floors, and ridiculously overpriced. I've heard it's quite nice for food (and cocktails) but haven't tried it myself. When it first opened and was fairly popular I was never allowed in due to various male clothing violations (trainers, shorts, flip flops, tacky Xmas jumpers). I could tell it was going down hill when i was almost begged to go in wearing shorts and flip flops this summer. How times change.

Well, this had me even more less likely to frequent this watering hole...

Then again, I doubt I'm the target market.  I hope we're charging for this spam?

Old Bank is OK I reckon - if you want lunch or a decent meal in the evening....

Definitely overpriced, food is not that great either, last time I went in there it was full of hooray henrys talking about the tory party!!!  Obviously they've moved on from there now then if they are getting that desperate. :badmood:

Been to the Old Bank once, for a Christmas Meal.

We got (probably fairly) kicked out before the starter arrived as several are members were extremely drunk and were discussing the waitress in their quietest possible shout.

To add a bit of balance to the slating, I've been to the Old Bank a fair few times (though not in the last year or so) and it's always been alright.  A bit overpriced and a bit cramped when it's busy up on the top floor, but a decent atmosphere, good cocktails and a great terrace in the summer.  Get the 2-4-1 cocktails, and request funky songs form the DJ upstairs and you'll be alright...

Not sure about the advertising on here, but as a discussion thread I thought I'd throw that in.  never eaten there but the menu looks good and they've got jazz on during the week.   8) :toocool:

The Old Bank is OK....I suppose it caters for the more discerning punter, which makes one wonder why they're advertising on here. The fireworks last NYE were very good, but it did cost a fair wedge to get in so they should have been.

There is an irony that the banker's recession will probably do for the Old Bank...

If so it's not a pub.

They don't do pints (or didn't the last time I was in there), only bottles.

They do serve pints. Guinness in there is always a bit dodgy though
