It's one of those away games where you think back and think 'what the hell was I doing freezing my nuts off whilst watching my team get beat'. But I've never been to Roots Hall and will probably go!

Its a proper old footy ground,been there many times...used to always be a Friday night game in years gone by.....the away end used to be like the Stratton Bank but twice as high.

Great ground. Proper old school, decent noise due to roof, few gd boozers nearby.....or you could go for a shitty souless plastic stadium and a pre match beer in superbowl.

It is looking and feeling pretty dated these days (well it was last time i went). Getting less and less proper old school grounds these days though. This lot are looking at moving soon too by the looks of things:

Last time i went, the 2-2 draw. The pub that used to be for away fans had shut down, so if you wanted a drink nearby you had to get in the home one before the bouncers started their shift. Crap food facilites (a pasting table) and they have some sort of drum that sounds awful. The only thing to recommend the ground was the stewards let us out for a half time smoke.

And none of this sober thread starting like the wimbledon thread, you need to be smashed.

I was there at the 2-2 draw as well. I has the boy with me so we couldn't sit up at the back of the stand because it was too noisy for him. We has to sit towards the front of the stand which is actually below the pitch, so from a seated position your eyes are literally on a level with the player's studs/blades. I remember JPM seemed to have some jolly looking boots on that day.

I would be up for going to this (especially at £5 to get in!) but don't think I'd make it from work :/

I like Roots Hall. Another ground you know Town fans will make a racket, doesnt matter if you take 200 or 2000. Just got the acoustics. Sad that 2 of the pubs near the ground have folded. This will be my 3rd trip to Southend at this exact stage of the JPT, and we have lost both. 3rd time lucky?

STFC facebook page said earlier that we'd sold 208 advance tickets for Southend which is a brilliant start! Hopefully we'll push the 400 mark which would be incredible support in the same week we've played Colchester and have Bristol Rovers coming up...

While we're on it, we've sold nearly half the torquay (490) and northampton (470) tickets as well. Our support is class.

I'll be there tomorrow night with my two boys.  It's their first Swindon away game, so fingers crossed it's a good result !
