Title: Iside Story Exclusive: Hewlett, Gurney, Nicho & Parkin
Post by: Barry Scott on Friday, July 15, 2005, 01:03:41
Right, okay i'm wankered at this moment, but i just met up with an old mate who works very closely with the club and just told me a couple of stories that help clear up some of our little debates past and present.

I will not debate whether you think they are bullshit or not, i am just gonna retell the stories i have been told. All appear to make sense and several i DO KNOW are factually acurate. i will not tell you which, as i believe them all to be correct. One of which has been verified by several people as well.

HEWLETT AND GURNEY

First comes Hewlett and Gurney. We all know the rough story here, but this is supposed to be the facts.

They were close friends and they went on holiday together, taking their wives. One night they were all out, Gurney feels ill and says he's going back to the hotel room. Hoolits misses follows as she is also "ill".

Anyway, Hoolit and Gurneys wife go back and catch Gurney doing hoolits Missis. Hewlett looses the plot and starts trying to kill gurney and gives him a proper kicking. It ends up on the balcony of the room and hoolit and gurney essentially (film style) end up brawling a bit close to the balcony.

It ends up with hoolit near throwing Gurney over the balcony then whilst tryint o prevent him falling, hurts his wrist (hence the bandages). Not aas dramatic as it sounds; hewlett hurt himself impulsively helping him!

It turns out gurney was a bit of a pussy and hewletts wrist was actually hurt trying to help gurney. It also transpires that gurney was disliked and a team discussion backed hewlett and as a team they decided they backed hewlett! Hence the transfer. It also came out King and Gurney were never quite the bum chums we all thought.

THE DEPLETION OF NICHO'S SKILL

Nicho, when he first arrived at town was fairly introvert person and kinda kpt himself to himself.

heywood was an arrogant wide boy and generally liked himself a touch. He was liked, but consideed a bit to up his own arse. Nicho wa fairly unassuming and generally a nice chao and well liked. For some reason he started to become best maes with heywood.

Slowly Heywood and Nicho became bum chums and Nicho, like heywood, became up his own arse and felt he was above most players. This created friction and apparently the team, as a whole, felt nicho was too big for his boots. This resulted in nicho going from a near non drinker to someone who frequented the bars and pubs. He drank too much and became demotivated . It was also mentioned that this was a possible reason for mooney's punch; nicho was just generally to much for some nowadays and that tackle was the icing on the cake.

PARKIN'S LOW TRANSFER FEE

Not much to say here, other than some may have worked out. But as a result of  our creditors, it took some serious wrangling to get a serious fee for parkin as the creditors wanted him sold for any old poxy sum.

now the creditors i mention were told to me as the administrators, but i don't know how this works, but from what i was told he nearly went for alot less. And no, i was not told the transfer fee as this would be bad news for the person telling me the story. The facts were that as a result of our previous admin and the fact we are still to some degree watched carefully, we (as a club) had very little say in the fee agreed.

To be fair to them (sorry if you are reading, i said this was for me only! oops!), but they did say they had forgotten the fee, but this was clearly untrue, they just knew they wouldn't be able to tell anyone! They did however confirm it was not towards the lower end of the figures being thrown around.

Please don't come back bitching about this, i'm not trying to be tabloid, just thought it may make some interesting reading. ( i will make no further comments regarding these stories :) )

As i said i'm just retelling a story or 2. To be fair i don't know the bloke, or know nothing about him.

I'm not trying to stir shit up, if people feel this is shit and it bothers them ask an admin person to remove it. i won't give 2 shits, im pissed anyway and will regret retelling the stories once sober.

All makes sense to me especially the Hoolit part, obviously i wont pass judgement on Nicholas as ive never spoke to him so i dont know if he's up his own arse?, i just hope he can get back playing like he did when he first joined the club.

My mrs knows Nicho quite well and says he's one of the nicest fella's at the club.  However whenever I've been near the fella, whilst out on the town, he's always comes across as an arrogant twat.

Heywood is known to be an arrogant twat, but every time I've spoke to the bloke he seemed a genuinely nice bloke.  Always says hello, always got time to chat.

The result of my findings, I must be one hell of an arrogant twat myself!!  Shit.

Nicholas drinks too much, he seems alright when I speak to him out....not arrogant but is out too much for a pro in my opinion...

Hewlett in hard man shocker  bullshit....

From the times I've met Nicho I certainly don't think he's arrogant.  What people who say he is have got to remember that a) He's one of them there scousers so will automatcially sound like he's got a hefty chip of his shoulder    and b) From what I've heard (and from what I know of him I believe to be true) he's got a bit more upstairs that your average footballer so is likely to give you a more intelligent response when you talk to him.

I've got to say that to mistake these things for arrogance does seem a little bit harsh

I've never spoken to Nicholas, but Heywood has always seemed like a decent down to earth northern bloke to me.

I cant believe Hewlett giving Gurney a beating, I just cant. its not possible. my sister could beat up hewlett.

Maybe the problem with Nicho is the twats who hang around him all the time when he's out.  Maybe it's them who are billy big time cos they're mates with a footballer and that gives the impression that Nicho's the twat.  Just a theory.
