13.7 million seems a pittance for a player who is to be considered his prime.  People seem to put the fee down on account of his age, but was Zidane not 30/31 when he enjoyed his world-record fee to Real Madrid for 40-odd million?  He will be a major loss to Arsenal, and I'm beginning to seriously doubt whether they will be up to challenging Chelsea.  Their poor performances in the Champions League make Arsenal a less attractive prospect to many European players, and this Hleb they've signed does not, in my opinion, compare to Vieira despite the similarities in place.

Vieira has stated he was looking for a new challenge - I think he has been the one for setting the wheels rolling for this transfer, not Arsenal.  Anyone else think it's a bit odd?

I don't really think it's that much of blow. Arsenal can easily cope without him and for me he hasn't recently been quite as good as he used to be.

Hleb is supposed to be good and i think they are right to cash in on him now. It was clear, i think, that arsenal were happy to sell him and i don't really believe they mind that much.

Apparently it's the Arsenal who have been touting him about.

Have to agree with Reg he looks to be a fading force having watched him on the box in a couple of the Champions League games last season he was worse than Hewlett.  Every pass straight to the opposition and lost every ball for quite long periods.

At 29 I think it will be a good move to cash in now he'll be 30 at the end of next season and the fee will only diminish.

I suspect Viera knows this himself, and so a move suits him as it may recharge his batteries, so a good move for all concerned.

They have good young players like Fabregas anyway and they need the money considering they are payin for a new stadium

Funds to buy Shaun Wright-Phillips as well perhaps? Fabregas is a ready-made replacement for Vieira, and it looks like Pires is off to Galatasaray as well.

Not sure how old he was,but he's always looked quite old,with his monk style haircut. :) At the time when he left juve it was crazy season for transfer money and he was the one of the best players in the world.And flair players always go for more money.Vieira is a class player but i hope he fucks up next season.I hate juventus,they are the man utd of italian football.
