Post by: Nomoreheroes on Tuesday, September 27, 2011, 19:08:21
Why?

Kennedy and Cibbochi injured?

Maybe he is just better than both.To be fair to him Dicanio has been saying for a while that Kennedy is playing alot of games

Hes supposed to be a very fit and quite quick fullback, PdC likes fit players that arent scared to train.

He's not my type, but competition for the leftback slot will keep Kennedy on his toes.

Cibocchi hasn't been used as a left-back either.

No harm in giving Kennedy some competition. My only (minor) issue is his lack of experience.

PDC sees Cibocchi as a centre-back option maybe? Or it's bolstering the homegrown numbers?

Having Ridehalgh on the bench will free up the option of another foreign player on the bench maybe

Seems a bit odd. We must have a squad of about a squillion now.

The homegrown players rule has been far from a problem this season mind

I like this signing...adds competition at LB and will hopefully see CK keep improving his defensive abilities...if he doesnt he'll sure be looking over his shoulder!

I think PDc sees this as healthy competition and you never know...could be a great signing  :D

Won 4/5 without him and gabliona however you fucking spell it. Not you Phelpsie but we got people moaning that he keeps changing the team and people moaning that players are not playing even when we are winning.

The one month loan part suggests one or two niggly injuries from our back line maybe? What other reason could there be?

Very true and a sensible idea. I take it we would have the option to extend if we wish to do so then?

Yeah we do but my main concern is that he does very well and they just take him back. Make no mistake he is very highly rated by the hudds fans and alot of them would have him playing now instead of Naysmith.Although they now have another lad(woods?) who is making a big impression so maybe we have a chance

On the town website it has Clarke saying that this is the next part of the players development, this confuses me in that it is only a one month loan, the left back situation is fine as we know it, how many games does Clarke think this lad will get to aid in his development! Doubt he has been loaned out to warm our bench. Things don't add up at the moment. I'm sure as more news comes out things will become clearer.

My only concern is whether they are being left out because they are being kept out the squad or because none of them are good enough.

Apart from Comazzi and Kerrouche our team on Saturday was made up players who were here last season, players signed from League Two/Conference and one from Scotland.

Now I know the likes of Devera and Smith signed very early and I'd be interested to know how much of their spotting/scouting/signing were due to Bodin/our scouting network and how much was down to PdC.

If, we go with the suggestion the players in question were already targetted by the club then the fact that the large majority of PdCs signings (Risser, Esajas, Gabilondo, Cibbochi and Atiku(!!!)) aren't getting a game could be some what worrying.

Comazzi has been average at best. Kerrouche proper looks the part mind.

A lot of hypothetical stuff is there though...

Can see what you are saying mate and it's a fair point.I suppose though it was always going to be like that with his lack of experience. The positive thing for me is that he isnt blinded by his own signings and has rightly dropped the dross.

It's Paolo's first management job in English football, his first experience of this level. Most of the squad he inherited wanted to leave or had already left. To think he was going to sign 15 excellent players and make no mistakes is quite frankly bonkers.

Everyone was crying out for him to sign players, it's hardly surprising one or two haven't worked out. He had to make quick decisions.

Plus the fact he has since admitted he didn't know about the homegrown player rule, I think that explains why esajas, gabilondo and Atiku haven't played more. Plus you can never tell how a player will settle at a club. They could be the best player in the world but might not be happy at a certain place, or be in a new country and miss their family, you just don't know.

These players might play a bigger part at some stage in the season, but right now Paolo feels he has a more settled team and it's got him four wins in five.

To be doing that and have such quality as Gabilondo to come back in is a pretty healthy position IMO.

Now we have competition in the one area we didn't have any, left-back, and a further option up top - both English options, too.

Pretty much how I see it too Juddie.

I suspect we might need Esajas/Gabilondo when Ritchie departs in January.
