Title: Parking ticket avoidance
Post by: oxford_fan on Saturday, September 17, 2011, 16:19:34
Got my first ever parking ticket this morning, in North London. It was completely fair game, had forgotten to put a scratchcard thing in the window. Any way to get around it? I'm going to appeal just to be an arse, was thinking of taking a pic of my car with the scratchcard thing down on the drivers seat and say it slipped off. Worth a shot, and if you appeal it extends the thing where if you pay within 14 days its £65 instead of £130, so it won't cost me any extra to delay it. Any better ideas though?

Admit you were in the wrong and pay up.

HAHA! Good one.

I think they take photos these days so if you say it fell down, best to say it was down on the floor I reckon.

I got a fine after forgetting to put a ticket on (it was free for a few hours anyway and I was only there about 30 mins). I saw someone going back to their car so asked them if I could have their ticket and sent it off with a letter saying it had fallen down and they let me off.

Got to be worth a try....is it a council car park or private firm? In my experience the private firms stop chasing after a while. Their tactics are to scare people to pay but then they drop it.

London councils are militant in collecting their fines as I found out through Croydon council

80 quid parking fine went to 520 quid

Take an out of order bag with you and pop it over the meter.
