Played on loan at Motherwell last season and was well thought of up there. Sounds like a goer. 10 goals in 18 games for them.

Blackman fits the bill.

Only other ones I could find:

Troy Hewitt - QPR
Jordan Cook - Sunderland

In all seriousness, Blackman does sound like a good shout. As well as that appearance he was on the bench a few weeks ago for Blackburn, so that could fit in with what Paolo said.

Fingers crossed!  :D

Do we really need one? Connell, Kerooch, DeVita and Magera. Plus the new loanee can play up there. Connell showed today he's no mug in the air. I think 1 decent CB and we're sorted.

I'm not convinced we need another striker as I think we currently have good enough cover up front. Still, not going to moan at a Premiership striker on loan and 10 in 18 last season for Motherwell suggests he knows where the goal is.

We do need another striker. Connell is the only natural goal poacher we have with the others being much of a muchness. Revell could have done a job for us  ;)

We also need a tall center back to play with Flint. Kennedy can be replaced with Cibocchi. Caddis is okay.

Has magera even played 90 minutes combined for us? If he has, it can't be much more than that, stupid to write him off already.

Jeremy Wray says we're in the market for a defender as well.

I like Kennedy he has a great delivery and cross but he really needs some work on his defensive duties he get's caught out far too often and leaves us exposed at the back

Somebody needs to explain to our centrebacks what man marking is too.  Revell given a free header twice which resulted in goals.

I'll give Magera the BoD but it was quite comical watching him getting out jumped by midgets.  Great shot on goal  by him which was unlucky to hit the post but he needs more time to learn the english game because at times he looked lost.

I think time and match fitness are the 2 things he needs, got a feeling he'll come good.

Magera was at fault for both.  First he played it back into the danger area and for the second he just didn't get off the ground.  Bit better decision-making and some fitness and he'll be fine.

I thought Magera was good. Won loads of headers in the first half. Good hold up play.

That's what I said to my lad today before he came on. Think PdC needs to find a settled pair upfront and Connell should be one of them.

According to Paolo, Magera is only about 40% fit. He's obviously got a lot to do, but he clearly has decent vision, just very lacking fitness. Connell does deserve to start though (and last more than 29-45 minutes) because he looks like a goal scorer and today proved that.

I think Kennedy can whip a decent ball into the area, but he's a right bastard for an aimless hoof down the line

Kennedy often hoofs the ball aimlessly when he has enough time to try and pick someone out. Great at whipping crosses in though.

Agreed, the right hand side was all quick short passes but the left was hoofball.  De Vita did a job but would've liked to see him get more involved.

I hoped nev would catch this (you normally only marshall the Notts Forest corner), but I don't think I've even got a bite. :( I have a feeling you're trying to wind up nev and I think there's also some sophisticated double-fishing cum whoosh attempts going on.

Fair point. It's definitely a tough choice. It's been a long time since we've had a genuine dilemma with which strikers to play.

I mentioned this yesterday, finally we have someone who is decent at putting a good corner in.

His corner taking was certainly noted in our section of the DRS too.

Tough call for PDC. I suspect he'll go for Keroooosh and Magera. Which is bloody tough on Connell. Then we have the prospect of another striker coming in...though that's only at the enquiry stage so we may not.

Title: Re: Striker on Loan

Thing is with getting a new striker is although i agree we need a defender if we are being given a opportunity to bring in someone who the manager feels is better than what we got then we would be foolish not to take it up.

The fact we were in for the Aresenal lad though does seem to suggest that we are still looking at bringing one in.

I wonder if Paolo would consider Kerrooooooooosh playing the role that De Vita played (left-mid pushing forwards), as he worked the channels pretty well (better than I would expect Magera and Connell to as he's slightly more mobile).

Thoughts?

I thought exactly the same Connel and Magera up front with Ritchie and Keroosh on the wings and De Vita to come off the bench would rip a second arse hole in most  teams in League 2

No Gabilondo? :(

I was thinking for home games when we might want to adopt more of a 4-3-3 style, like we did against Rotherham, with the 3rd striker playing as a very far forward midfielder/wide striker.

It's been a long time since we've had a genuine dilemma with which strikers to play.

It's a long time since we've had any strikers to play - or so it seems anyway, it certinly makes last year's constant refrain that strikers are so hard to come by seem even lamer than it was at the time.

I'm hoping that Magera, when fit will live up to his reputation and become our main man, with Connell and Kerrouche playing their part.

Re. Kerrouche, I was critical of him on Tuesday, but certainly liked what I saw yesterday so feel much more positive that he can do well for us this season.
