Title: Re: Knock off Adidas... Post by: janaage on Friday, September 2, 2011, 19:22:20 To be honest I've never been impressed with any of our adidas gear, it's awful. The stick on badges make all of the clothing look so cheap and this explains it. I said to a mate of mine when I saw the quality of stuff it's like adidas had a load of old shirts left over in the warehouse and stuck on a Swindon badge, and it appears to be true. Just didn't expect the Swansea badge to still be on the tops, underneath the tcky cheap looking STFC badges.

I've already drafted a post, which should alert Swansea and STFC via the News Aggregators, which will be up on the site tomorrow. Title: Re: Knock off Adidas... Post by: yeo on Friday, September 2, 2011, 19:26:17 Nice one Esther

Post by: Berniman on Saturday, September 10, 2011, 14:17:22 2 coats found with the wrong badges, been investigated by adidas and it was a mistake when putting the order together. Swansea don't even use/sell those jackets, and have only signed up with Adidas this year.
One thing for sure is, that this would have blown over without any comment if the fan that publisized would have just gone back to the shop and swapped his jacket. Because of this, and the washbag picking up on it this it has now jepordised the renewing of our contract with adidas, which they are talking about at the moment. Apparently due to this "fan", Swansea, Stoke, Rangers and other major clubs have contacted adidas to ask for an investigation, and adidas are not happy with STFC because of the bad publicity (that has been raised by one of it's own fans) 2 Jackets FFS, well done, some people should think about who will suffer before posting some stuff on social media or blogs, I hope you don't moan when we are wearing Macron kits after next season. Adidas have given us the best kits in my memory. It looks like we will be back to tin pot kits after next season. The manager of the club shop ain't happy. Oh she would also had some choice words for Fatbury :D On another note, apparently our away kit next year is something special. Picked by the shop manager who chose the blue third shirt 2 seasons ago, and our away shirt this season so she has good taste. The shite home shirt last season was picked by Fitton. ;D Title: Re: Knock off Adidas... Post by: Ardiles on Saturday, September 10, 2011, 14:38:43 So because we're little old Swindon we need to keep quiet when there's a suspicion that something untoward has happened with the goods we're ordering from the supplier?! Bollocks to that. Not really sure why you put fan in quotes. He did precisely the right thing in publicising the issue - otherwise the true extent of the problem would never have been known.
As for Adidas, this will probably spur them in to tightening up their quality control procedures - which is no bad thing. They screwed up. Not sure if an apology has been given, but one would certainly be in order. Title: Re: Knock off Adidas... Post by: Samdy Gray on Saturday, September 10, 2011, 15:05:23 Exactly Ardiles. It's not our fault some little Ethiopian stuck the wrong badge on.
Title: Re: Knock off Adidas... Post by: Berniman on Saturday, September 10, 2011, 15:14:59 I agree with you, but it's got fuck all to do with little old Swindon and I don't know where you are coming from with that. If you are happy with fans making the club look like mugs to other fans out there as well as damaging future deals for the clubs then fair enough. Publicising this is the same as booing the players while the game is still going on, makes no sense.
I put "fan" because he has potentially harmed the club. If it was having a go a adidas then fair enough, but what good can come from putting the blame on the club. Title: Re: Knock off Adidas... Post by: Ardiles on Saturday, September 10, 2011, 15:16:45 OK, see where you were coming from. I hadn't read it that the fan was having a go at the club...just that he thought the club had been victim to taking receipt of a consignment of suspect goods.
Title: Re: Knock off Adidas... Post by: DV on Saturday, September 10, 2011, 15:18:15 Adidas made our club look like mugs by sending us dodgy merchandise.
Publicizing it made Adidas look like mugs because it was there fault. Potentially harmed the club? whats the worst that could happen Adidas (who fucked up) stop making our templated identikits? Title: Re: Knock off Adidas... Post by: Berniman on Saturday, September 10, 2011, 15:32:09 Adidas made our club look like mugs by sending us dodgy merchandise. Agree Publicizing it made Adidas look like mugs because it was there fault. No it didn't, maybe in the world of football it did, but to other clubs fans it made STFC look like mugs Potentially harmed the club? whats the worst that could happen Adidas (who fucked up) stop making our templated identikits? We go back to tin pot kit manufacturers where there is less money involved to benefit the club and the image of the club takes a step backwards. Having a top kit manufacturer all helps the image and professionalism of the club. Don't get me wrong, If a major manufacturer has fucked up then I am all for creating a hoo ha about it. But when there is any chance of making the club you support look bad, when it could affect sales of goods which affects the finances of the club and when it potentially harms any future deals that the club try to put in place I don't see the need to publicise and shout about it. Just go back, point out the problem and let the club deal with it. The club were totally unaware before they took the jackets back, at least give them a chance to sort it out before shouting about it. Title: Re: Knock off Adidas... Post by: Batch on Saturday, September 10, 2011, 17:08:21 Publicising this is the same as booing the players while the game is still going on, makes no sense. I'm sorry but that is bollocks, and if Adidas and the club really feel like that I'm disgusted with them too. Adidas are a premium supplier charging premium prices. The only thing they should be saying is sorry to the club/fans for their "QA" not doing its job properly. If they throw a hissy fit over this then they are clearly do not have premium customer service. Title: Re: Knock off Adidas... Post by: Dr Pierre Chang on Saturday, September 10, 2011, 17:17:56 Berniman - is the contract with Adidas going to be extended then? I thought it was only for 3 years.
Title: Re: Knock off Adidas... Post by: Simon Pieman on Saturday, September 10, 2011, 17:18:18 Likewise when we play shit we shouldn't talk about it on the internet because it might make the club look bad or the players cry.

Post by: the washbag on Saturday, September 10, 2011, 17:52:46 Evening...
I was approached by the supporter, as were several other news outlets, with his pictures and evidence that Adidas had fucked up their merchandise for STFC to ultimately endorse, then sell. If you read the article - http://thewashbag.com/2011/09/03/rebranded-swansea-city-jackets-sold-by-swindon-town/ - you will see the blame is firmly put on Adidas for this episode, and rightly so. If Adidas are now getting in a hissy fit for the bad publicity, which incidently was their fault, then I'd rather STFC be supplied by a more professional company. While you say "only two jackets", what really pisses me off is that no recall has been issued by STFC or Adidas for these jackets. STFC have only publicised their refund and exchanges offer via Twitter, with NO mention on the Official Club Website or notice in the Club Superstore. So how are other fans who brought this product meant to find out of this issue if they don't read my site, the TEF or have Twitter....? Title: Re: Knock off Adidas... Totally agree. The kids/youth sizing is completely ridiculous and completely overpriced as well. £70 for a full kit for a 4 year old is a disgrace. The sort of prices Adidas charge why shouldn't somebody make it common knowledge? Title: Re: Knock off Adidas... Post by: janaage on Sunday, September 11, 2011, 10:46:50 Have to disagree with most of Berniman's most, especially the 'adidas have provided us with the best kit in living memory' point. Sorry but I think we've been caught up in the brand here. Yes it's nice to have an adidas kit but come on we've basically got left over merchandise which has had a cheap iron on badge stuck on - which doesn't justify the prices they charge.
And to use "fan" in quotation marks is out of order, the bloke is a whistleblower and is right to do so, don't try and belittle the bloke just because he hasn't towed the party line here. Title: Re: Knock off Adidas... Some of the leisure wear's nice too, but the club badge is on the right hand side, instead of the left. Left without buying anything. Post by: Ardiles on Tuesday, September 13, 2011, 09:52:34 Lads...it's an internet forum. Occasionally, you're going to get shouted down. Happens to everyone - and when it does, just dust yourself down and move on.
If you keep getting shouted down, it's probably because you're being a twat. But on the whole, this is a fairly reasonable place to air your views. Certainly more open and less cliquey than it used to be. Stick with it. Title: Re: Knock off Adidas... Post by: Bogus Dave on Tuesday, September 13, 2011, 09:53:23 Has berniman left now?

Can you advise me if it is morally safe to continue this relationship, as sometimes there is bad language used and horrible, spiteful things being said to people who they know fuck all about. If indeed the sequence of events on here had been picture posted of shoddy merchandise->club & Adidas apologise and rectify matter, then it would be true. But what happened here (on the TEF) was picture posted of shoddy merchandise->a TEFer stated Adidas and the club were upset at the individual for pointing out the mistake publically->lots of TEFers state its harsh to blame the individual -> It gets a bit heated Title: Re: Knock off Adidas... But those right wing Nazi's are arguing for arguments sake. Banoffee Pie is as much a pie as any other pie. People should be more accepting, ignore its exterior and embrace it's cream, banana and toffee inside. Title: Re: Knock off Adidas... Title: Re: Knock off Adidas... Post by: TownYsend on Thursday, October 27, 2011, 20:54:08 First post here. Bit of a brave one judging by what I've seen.
Only joined because someone recently told me about my jacket being mentioned on here. Thought I'd straighten a few things up. My coat hanger is next to a window. I first discovered the Swansea badge underneath when the sun was shining through. I did not purposely shine a lamp underneath looking for anything. That would be strange. I actually sent a picture to Swindon, The Washbag and Gary Rose on twitter. I was pretty shocked and disgusted at the time and it was pretty much a natural reaction. I wanted to shout it out and that was the only way I really thought of. I called up my friend as he bought the same coat only a few days before me and he had the same problem. The first person to react was The Washbag, who I co-operated with and they wrote the article. Nothing back from Swindon until the day of the Rotherham game when they posted about taking them back. Nothing to me personally, just the general message. I took it back but my friend had already swapped his back, so I walked in there with mine looking like I just believed the twitter hype and just wanted a new coat. Woman was a little shitty with me without being too obvious. Said I didn't mean to be an asshole but I paid £30 for a Swindon Town jacket and that's kinda what I wanted. Got even more shitty with me when I got the light out on my phone and checked the new coat. Didn't see the harm in checking. Would have been even more pissed if I had the same problem twice. After this Gary Rose sent me a message asking for contact details and said he was following up on the story. I explained everything, even that it had been exchanged and he never got back to me after that. Some may not agree with the way I went about things. Some think it's perfectly fine. I don't see why I would pay £30 for a Swindon jacket if I wasn't a Swindon fan, as some have claimed. Title: Re: Knock off Adidas... Post by: Simon Pieman on Thursday, October 27, 2011, 21:02:13 It's no worse than people moaning about the shit food from inside the town end, or having a moan at the team when we play bad and lose. I'm pretty sure word would have got around internet or no internet, no need to justify what happened.
But don't hang your club merchandise near a window in future you cunt ;) Title: Re: Knock off Adidas... Post by: Batch on Thursday, October 27, 2011, 21:23:07 As I said before, the only people who should be apologising is Adidas.
Title: Re: Knock off Adidas... Post by: Gethimout on Friday, October 28, 2011, 08:09:13 As I said before, the only people who should be apologising is Adidas. Agree with this. Post by: Ardiles on Friday, October 28, 2011, 08:21:31 The story came and went within a couple of days because it quickly became apparent that the incident was isolated. If there were hundreds of other examples, many would have come forward.
It was the right thing to raise the issue and Gary Rose and The Washbag did the right thing to air it in the way they did. I don't think anyone comes out of this badly, least of all TownYsend. I'd have done the same. Title: Re: Knock off Adidas... Post by: sonicyouth on Friday, October 28, 2011, 15:30:57 Who fancies a cuppa?
