Title: Adver News: Di Canio says Ferry's here to stay Post by: News Monkey on Tuesday, August 23, 2011, 09:00:23 Di Canio says Ferry's here to stay
SIMON Ferry is unlikely to be one of those players heading out of the County Ground door anytime soon after Paolo Di Canio stressed that the popular Scot is part of his plans this season. http://www.thisisswindontownfc.co.uk/news/headlines/9209575.Di_Canio_says_Ferry_s_here_to_stay/?ref=rss Title: Re: Adver News: Di Canio says Ferry's here to stay Post by: Parkin09 on Tuesday, August 23, 2011, 09:17:49 Woooooooooo

Title: Re: Adver News: Di Canio says Ferry's here to stay Post by: reeves4england on Tuesday, August 23, 2011, 18:17:11 The only one thats a little surprising really is Atiku. Yep - new signing, international experience, and hasn't had a look in really. Maybe he's not impressed as much as PDC thought he might - I only saw him in the Reading game so can't really comment.Title: Re: Adver News: Di Canio says Ferry's here to stay Post by: Costanza on Tuesday, August 23, 2011, 19:15:08 The signiture of Atiku screams of agent influence to me. There's probably a good reason that we are the seventh club to sign him on a permanent basis.
He deserves a chance and I dare say a JPT appearance was on the cards. Ferry, McCormack, Smith and Risser says to me that we won't see much of him. Title: Re: Adver News: Di Canio says Ferry's here to stay Post by: Don Rogers Shop on Tuesday, August 23, 2011, 19:21:40 I get the impression with Ferry that Pdc had probably heard a few things he didn't like but was presently suprised in the summer.Gave him a bit more time and has seen that Ferry has knuckled down and fought for a starting place.

A fair observation. Title: Re: Adver News: Di Canio says Ferry's here to stay Post by: Don Rogers Shop on Tuesday, August 23, 2011, 19:35:13 Apart from obviously i meant pleasantly not presently.
Title: Re: Adver News: Di Canio says Ferry's here to stay Post by: DV on Tuesday, August 23, 2011, 19:58:15 Atiku, Bodin, Timlin, Amankwaah and Evans are the 5 then Amankwaah and Timlin more than capable of doing a decent job for us. Should be playing. Title: Re: Adver News: Di Canio says Ferry's here to stay Post by: NorwayRed on Tuesday, August 23, 2011, 20:01:18 It was utterly crazy to sign Atiku on for two years. What the fuck was PDC thinking???
He's been playing in swedish 2nd. division (third highest level) and never set anything on fire there... Now he's on it's way to Supermarine, Hungerford or Chippenham. I hope he's on low wages! Title: Re: Adver News: Di Canio says Ferry's here to stay Post by: Simon Pieman on Tuesday, August 23, 2011, 20:23:58 Atiku probably needs games for fitness before he is just thrown in there. We don't have a reserve team anymore (at least not entered in a league).

Should be playing. In place of who? Ferry? McCormack? neither have done anything wrong Caddis? our vice captain and one of our best players? Now he's on it's way to Supermarine, Hungerford or Chippenham. I hope he's on low wages! Atiku was one of di Canio's earliest signings no? I guess there's a chance that PdC thought he was half decent, and as at the time of his signing our squad was pretty threadbare thought it wise to get a 'banker' in on the chance we were unable to get anyone better in his position. As it turns out we have since signed some better wingers and attacking players and so Atiku is now more surplus to requirements and unlikely to make the matchday squads. Doesn't mean it was a bad signing at the time and if he goes out on loan to get some fitness and experience of English football gives us the option of using him later this season if we get injuries or the like. You just have to look at Wilson last season.... Title: Re: Adver News: Di Canio says Ferry's here to stay Post by: DV on Wednesday, August 24, 2011, 13:37:04 In place of who? Ferry? McCormack? neither have done anything wrong Caddis? our vice captain and one of our best players? I'd have Amankwaah in at right back over Caddis. Title: Re: Adver News: Di Canio says Ferry's here to stay Post by: Fred Elliot on Wednesday, August 24, 2011, 13:40:38 I'd have Amankwaah in at right back over Caddis. and push Caddis to RM ? Title: Re: Adver News: Di Canio says Ferry's here to stay Post by: Arriba on Wednesday, August 24, 2011, 13:48:06 our right side on sunday was the strongest part of our team. Caddis and Richie both played well.
The arguement of moving Richie to the left is a fair one if there is a appropriate replacement at the ready for right mid,but Caddis is fine at right back and should stay there. Title: Re: Adver News: Di Canio says Ferry's here to stay Post by: DV on Wednesday, August 24, 2011, 14:06:03 and push Caddis to RM ? Indeed. Ritchie to the left. Title: Re: Adver News: Di Canio says Ferry's here to stay Post by: Barry Scott on Wednesday, August 24, 2011, 15:53:09 I'm not sure what the Manks love in is all about, perhaps it's like the Timmeh love in. Manks had decent pace and was an OK crosser, but was probably made to look better by JP, who would often drop back when over-lapped. I feel he's still living off the back of the play-off season, thanks to not playing much last season.
I think Caddis' marking is better along with his tackling and all round defensive responsibility and awareness. The only thing I think Manks offers over Caddis, in my opinion, is height, but height matters not when you're out of position or have lost your man. Title: Re: Adver News: Di Canio says Ferry's here to stay Post by: DV on Wednesday, August 24, 2011, 16:29:48 I'm not sure what the Manks love in is all about, perhaps it's like the Timmeh love in. Manks had decent pace and was an OK crosser, but was probably made to look better by JP, who would often drop back when over-lapped. I feel he's still living off the back of the play-off season, thanks to not playing much last season. I think the difference between Big Kev and all our other play off season players is that they all let us down by being fucking awful last season. Cuthbert, Douglas, JPM, Sheehan - all fucking rubbish. Big Kev was mainly injured and barely played. Alot of people stuck by last seasons losers in a 'they might turn it around - they might rediscover their form kind of way' they all proved they couldnt re-discover their form and they were all a waste of space. Kev hasnt really had the chance to prove either way whether he can replicate his form or not. He didnt play enough last season and when he did he was in and out the side. If Kev had played 30+ games last season and been awful I think everyone would want to see the back of him. The best he managed last season was 12 games in a row (one on as sub, two off as sub - 9 full games) which was August to October time and we won 6, drew 2 and lost 4. 5 of those wins were in the league which was over half the amount of our season total of wins. Not that any of that was purely down to Big Kev or anything! Plus, on top of that I've never fully understood the Caddis love in. I dont think he's anything brilliant and no matter how many times I've seen him play I dont think I'll ever be convinced right back is his strongest position. For once DV is right. (Feels weird to say it) ??? Make the most of it. Its not very often you're right. |
