i gave up smoking 6 years ago. Developed Asthema so had to really.
Was fucking hard i will say that but for me the only way to beat it is to stop completely. Don't cut down etc as it never works.

good luck in giving up

GO YEOVIL :soapy tit wank:

I gave up donkeys years ago, not easy but I just stopped straightaway rather than cutting down. I was getting asthma as well so had to, and my asthma got a lot better after that, think that tells me something.

I had asthma bad for a while, using inhalers all the time etc. I used to go to the asthma clinic and some of the people who used to come along to that, used to frighten the crap out of me cause they couldn't breathe at all well. As I said, the smoking (giving up) helped, but I decided to stop relying on the inhalers and I don't use them often now. I could just be lucky and it's got better, but I hate having to rely on them all the time.

Shame about the police. Could you try not using the inhalers for a while or is that not possible?

only one i use is a purple preventer. stops me using the reliever(blue).

it works a treat but if i don't take it then i think i'm gonna need my blue one cos i have got used to it for so long.

not tried going without it just incase. bit worrying.
maybe should give it a try cos you never know

Worth a go, it's always there if you need it.

I've got brown and blue. Used to use the preventer all the time, but I stopped that and use the blue one if it gets bad.

corse not dude.
(mental note!! if i die it's Bedford Red, fault)

the doctor at the asthema clinic said i shouldn't need my blue one if i'm taking the purple one. thats what the preventor is designed for.
not used my blue one in months since taking the purple one.

(this sounds like i'm popping pills)

See what the doctor says, mine seemed to want me to keep using them, which is fair enough I suppose but like everything else you tend to rely on them and get used to them which is why i cut down/stopped using them. plus it gets bloody expensive over time. :soapy tit wank:

now my doctor has put me down for 3 inhalers in one prescription cos i said it was too expensive.

i might give it a go and stop using them for a while.
just to see how i get on.
would love to think didn't need them anymore

It's good, apart from the money side (wish my doctor had put them on the same prescription), not having asthma attacks is also good, not had one this year.

Nooooooooooooooooooo !

Are you lot just f*ckin thick ? I keep telling you to get the book Easyway by Allen Carr. Get it from the F*ckin library and it will be free ! All you need is to read the book and I guarantee that you will stop - for good ! Inhalers, patches, gum etc are all the WRONG things to use ! They just make it harder to stop and reduce your overall chance of success ! Believe me, I was a 20-25 a day man for 20+ years. I was good at 'giving up', cos I did it lots of times ! Each time I started back up. This time I have stopped for good !

Is that even legal?  :o

As for the jogging, you're probably better off joining a gym and hitting the treadmill, as you can guage your progress which is pretty satisfying, and it's less stressful on your legs...

Good luck!  Everyone has a different story about how they gave up, my mum started giving my dad pocket money to give up, my nextdoor neighbour had a glass of water every time she felt she needed a fag....

I hate gyms.I find them boring and generally full of idiots. Though I understand what you mean about the leg stress thing.I can run for ages on a treadmill but not very long outside.

That's a poor excuse Yeovil!  Gyms in my experience seem to be full of middle-aged women who've filled out a bit since their youth, and tend to have a little stroll on the treadmill for 5 minutes (why not just walk round the block ffs?!).  Looking at them gives you all the inspiration you need!

If it's full of idiots, it's not like you have to talk to them!

My dad gave up because he's had a nasty lung infection for the last 3 months. Anyone want some cheap Benson's?
