  SWINDON Town remain in negotiations with QPR regarding a move for Leon Clarke and boss Paolo Di Canio is hopeful that a deal can be made this week.

How difficult can it be?Either he wants to come, and we can pay the necessary wages, or he doesn't, or we can't afford him  :headhurts: Sign him, or move on, time is running out, and we need a big, target man PDQ.

I think you'll find football transfers are a bit more complicated than that!

Yeah I can imagine that being the case! I didn't realise they hadn't given Rowan Vine a number for the season either....worth a punt?

Given that the new QPR owners are looking to increase the profile of the club with high profile well known players, I would imagine Clarke would be even further down the pecking order.

However, what do I know!

Di Canio is quoted in that interview as follows.."We have a budget but we will see. The wages are not a problem and we need this player."

So what the fuck is the problem?

There could be any number of issues.  He may be unsure if its the right career move for him.  He may not be sure about either moving or commuting.  He might have family reasons for a bit of uncertainty.  I'm sure most of us take some time to think over a new job in a new place - footballers are people too.

I believe the problem is from QPR end with the takeover which is causing the main hold up.  Clarke was keen to come & play for us although because of the wage cap in League 2 his wage is an issue.

QPR fans are now saying that he's had a couple of offers from Championship clubs so this may now scupper any deal for him

I think 12pm tomorow

Yep all transfers whether loan or permanent have to be completed by 12pm friday in order to be able to play the same weekend

Well with any luck we have another "transfer Friday" as we haven't had one in a while.  Would be nice to have two new players in in time for Sunday.  Even if they don't start it will give us fresh options on the bench.

Gary Rose just twatted. He's just been to the pre-match press conference, apparently PDC was on fine form. An update on the Clarke situation will be online shortly.

The OS article suggests he could still sign in time for the weekend, but it doesn't look likely

QPR takeover is completed so maybe there will be some movement tomorrow.

Personally, I think that the new owners will be more interested in their new club rather than a reserve striker. So I reckon it will be next week now. Be nice surprise if it is sealed tmrw.

but if they know he's not gonna figure at all they might as well just give the ok, hardly a tough decision for them really

Of course there is a possibility that the new owners could raise the bar re Clarke joining us which could still scupper the move ie. We have to pay more % of his wages if on loan or bigger transfer fee if permanent.  I guess all will be revealed tomorrow the outcome of this deal

Hopefully there will be some positive news tomorrow and he will be available for Sunday.  Either way I hope the occasion will force us to up our game and put in a big performance for the whole 90 minutes.
