As someone who drinks in the Merlin i cannot believe they are opening at 9.00am is he mad. That pub has the potential now to be smashed to pieces 400 Oxford fans drinking 4 hours before kick off is there any pubs opening at that time for Swindon fans. With that pub opening so early the police are going to have so many officers out so earlier than you normally would.
Where are the town fans drinking before kick off?

He rises a point though, it seems a bit stupid moving the game to a 1pm KO if the pubs open early to compensate.

Always going to happen though. The police move it to stop people drinking as much before the game but the pubs moan because they lose out on business so they end up opening earlier anyway. Basically the whole thing is just a waste of time and they should have stuck to 3pm on the Saturday.

The decision is more to keep the scum out of the Town centre on a Saturday...there's quite enough of our own chavs hanging about, without the addition of day trippers from Didcot, Bicester and Abingdon.

Suppose it will depend on what else is happening that weekend that might pull on police resources. Remember a few years back a ColU game was moved to Friday because of some festival on the Sat in Chelmsford.

They moved the return leg at the same time as the home game didn't they?
