Title: Dagenham Away
Post by: Langers on Sunday, August 14, 2011, 09:53:58
Anyone else going, can't see us taking too many.

How far is the ground from the tube station?

It's about a 15 minute walk (Dagenham East IIRC)

I'm going because I can, but I'm not looking forward to it. If we hoof it again we'll get beat.

Finish work at 5 so there's no way I'll make it. I heard there's gonna be a fair number of West Ham fans going.

I'm going. Not really worked out any plans re: pubs etc, but IIRC they had a decent bar underneath the away end? Can't see it being too busy, being so far east and on a weeknight, so might go for that pre-match

Yep, we are going.

Closer than a home game, and it's still school holidays so sprog doesn't have to get his arse out of bed the following morning.

I'm thinking of driving to this. I guess M25 J30, then A13? Can you park near the ground or is it all permit parking?

http://www.theterras.co.uk/website/away%20travel/2006-2007/dagenham%20and%20redbridge.htm

Limited parking at the ground..seems to be plenty of street parking nearby.
It is always busy round junction 30...give yourself plenty of time.

Says on here junction 31 and A13.

You can even go in the supporters club. There were loads of Town fans in there last year.

I'm probably going to this and taking 2 maybe 3 extras.  Assume you can pay on the gate right?

Wish I was going, but I'm working, it's a weeknight and it's my birthday.

On that basis, I'm out.

We have 1100 tickets so should be fine to pay on the night. That's my plan anyway!

As mentioned in another thread, Dave (the Jock in the ticket office) reckons 500 tops. Depends how many Hammers decide to sit in the away end! I got my ticket, just in case.

Daggers fans seem to think they will get dicked so lets hope their right and get back to winning ways.

Crossrail would come into its element for this fixture. Midweek in East London is a bit of a nightmare at the moment.

I hope so I am going and taking 3 others with me including a Real Madrid season ticket holder the last game he went to was Real vs Barca last night , I have pointed out that Daggers ground or the football on show is going to be nothing like he has ever encountered before but he is mad keen wants me to bring a scarf along.

Just to let you all know, I have just seen that the District line is closed between Barking and Upminster, and Dagenham is between Barking and Upminster! Don't know if it will be closed all day, I hope not!

Just trying to work out another way of getting there.

It was only scheduled to be suspended between Edgeware and Kensington so hopefully it will be up and running later!

Yeh hopefully, but it says due to emergency engineering works, so who knows! Getting there otherwise is a bit of a bastard.

Cheers for the heads up Langers. Looks like it's going to be a massive pain getting there if that stays closed.

Yep, looks like we would have to get a bus, which I really dont fancy, you going from East Croydon?

Post by: reeves4england on Tuesday, August 16, 2011, 10:10:04
Thanks for the heads up. Will have to keep an eye on that one!

Edit: Just checked TfL and that line seems to have reopened, so hopefully will be back to normal by tonight

Quote
Severe delays are occurring between Barking and Upminster due to earlier emergency engineering work. Tickets will be accepted on local buses and C2C trains.

I'm sat here thinking when to leave and whether to go M25 clockwise or anti-clockwise (less roadworks anti-cw!). Is there much to do in Dagenham other than drink and knock up Stacey Solomon?

I am currently in Stanstead (work I'm afraid !) and I confirm that the roadworks on the M25 between 19 and 22 are fucking awful today

Avoid like the plague
