That's nice. I see your main man is 16/1 in the list. Probably because bookies, like the rest of us, are thinking 'Who the fuck is Chris Wilder'.

He doesn't get sacked, he just waits until the club nearly goes out of business and then resigns.

It's exactly that kind of thinking that has lead your club to appoint a celebrity football player as a football manager.

Being the former doesn't mean you are remotely good at the latter.

And if you don't know Chris Wilder, what do you know about League 2?

That we don't belong there.

What does Wilder know about League Two? He's a conference manager iirc.

We've appointed Di Canio because we believe he will do well and be a success for this club. We've appointed him because he impressed more so than everyone else in his interview, because of his ethos and philosophies.

Fuck all to do with him being a 'celebrity' anyone who genuinely believes that - is a fucking retard.

It's one of the few things resembling a tradition we've got left really isn't it, appointing high profile recently retired ex pro's as managers. And they all tend to do well (Ardiles, Macari, Hoddle, McMahon, Wise).

Gives us something to be proud of.

And if you don't know Chris Wilder,

He's managed at Alfreton Town, Halifax Town, Bury (Assistant Manager) and Oxford United. Why the hell would I scour the pub leagues to see what kind of manager he is.

I can barely remember last week, let alone as far back as whenever he last played.

Wilders done a decent job down there. Got a strong looking squad put together this season - expect oxford to be there or thereabouts come may

If I'm honest, I expected Oxford to do better last season.

TEF is the one place where people can irrationally/rationally slag off all things Oxford United. If the floating yellows who read this forum don't agree or are for some reason offended then, well, go away.

Apologies, I'm not from North Wiltshire/Swindon and have rarely encountered Oxford fans outside of matchdays so I find all this dick swinging ("banter") quite tiresome.

The 'celebrity' accusation is lazy.  By 'celebrity', what you really mean is that you've heard of him before.  And the reason you've heard of him is, primarily, because he's achieved something in football.  Rather like Ardiles had by the time he came to us, and Hoddle, and one or two other 'celebrities' you may also care to bring up.

What all these 'celebrities' had in common is an insight in to the game that few of their peers at that level could boast, having played at a higher level than most of those peers.  They also had charisma.  That helped to.  Another thing they all had in common is they all delivered for Swindon Town FC.  And I think you, and many others who have attempted to portray the appointment as reckless and ill advised are more than a little concerned that Di Canio may do the same.

We'll see.

Ah, but do you really care about your record in division 4?
how about this one.
http://www.toffeeweb.com/history/records/alltime.asp#tab2

Not only are you below Oxford an Reading but also Darwen !
Never mind you did get 7 points more than Glossop north end ! Then again they only played 34 games against your 42.

Not really, no. Probably because it's an embarrassment to be in the same division as shite such as yourselves.

I can understand why you are so interested though, as being in the bottom tier of the football league is a huge achievement for a club whose natural place is probably below the Blue Square South.

Of course, it makes much more sense to trust an all-time league table that has Everton has being number 1. Yes, that clearly makes sense.

Jesus, Poxford fans are boring....

Lest we forget....we played a whole season in the Premiership, the nearest you yellow prats have got to that is when you cheat on Football Manager.

A decade ago, I used to consider Oxford a rival football team, but times change. Now it's just an embarassment we're playing them again outside of a tinpot trophy game...

Still, I guess it's the kick up the backside this club needs. WE should be aiming for Championship footy. That should be our dream to realise and Oxford are just a small pebble in the way of that, and little more tbh.

That said, I have to admit... I'd rather be playing a team close by who will bring quite a few supporters than a far away team who will only bring a couple of hundred I guess? :S
