Title: Wage Bill Post by: kaufman on Thursday, July 28, 2011, 12:07:51 Nick Watkins saying today 12 players have come in 13 have left and they've shaved half a million of the wage bill.
Providing the new players are up to scratch and lets face it most of the players who left were shocking or not interested in playing for us, you could say that's very very good business Title: Re: Wage Bill Post by: nevillew on Thursday, July 28, 2011, 12:24:13 Or penny pinching, depending on how the season starts.
Title: Re: Wage Bill Post by: A Gent Orange on Thursday, July 28, 2011, 12:35:01 I suspect that PDC has taken up a fair bit of that slack.
Title: Re: Wage Bill Post by: Frigby Daser on Thursday, July 28, 2011, 12:36:37 That's quite a stat. My very rough calculations (I'm no accountant...) say that the average salary is down by over £40k per player. If you factor in that Douglas was probably one of the higher earners at the club, he might have taken a greater hit than most when he was offered a new deal. You can see why he went if he was being asked to take a pay cut of more than £40k.
This is good in that it shows we've managed to trm the wage bill [edited: good shout on Di Canio. Wilson would have been on a fair whack, but his wages (+ those of Morrison, Wood and Shirtliff) are likely to be low in comparison PDC and his gang], but it also shows what it takes to have a chance of being in the upper reaches of League 1. We'll need to get our wallets out again to push on. These are all assumptions on the figures - none of us know the in's and out's. To be fair, I couldn't give a monkeys so long as we don't get into financial trouble like the old days and we go up. Title: Re: Wage Bill Post by: tans on Thursday, July 28, 2011, 13:55:21 I heard douglas was on 350k per year.
I suspect our new captain Risser is probably on 50k a year Title: Re: Wage Bill Post by: Batch on Thursday, July 28, 2011, 14:10:29 500K saved? 300K on loss of league revenue. 200K on PDC. Status Quo (not the 3 chord type).
Just my thoughts. Title: Re: Wage Bill Post by: jb on Thursday, July 28, 2011, 14:19:52 I heard douglas was on 350k per year. Title: Re: Wage Bill Post by: mrverve on Thursday, July 28, 2011, 14:26:51 We had one of the highest wage bills in the League last year. Definately in the top 3-4 I would have imagined.

I heard he was on about 4.5k a week basic but then again - that is probably bullshit because who knows apart from the club and oh no bollocks himself. Either way he didnt earn it last season. Title: Re: Wage Bill Post by: DMR on Thursday, July 28, 2011, 16:12:06 I heard that he's gone anyway and no-one gives a flying fuck
