Title: The number 9 shirt...
Post by: LJ9 on Sunday, July 24, 2011, 11:16:55
Who will it be?

Til now things have been kept under wraps but just wondering if this so called "big front man" will actually be worth the wait!!

PDC...it better be. I trust you.

Maybe Ciren tomorrow night might answer the question?

This 'big target' man is starting to really piss me off. Why do we need one? The strikers we have maybe good enough.

I always thought of the number 10 as the target man and 9 as the more skillful striker.

I'm in a similar frame of mind. However it's still an extra option and could be needed during some games. And you'r right we might not need one.....But on the flip side it can't hurt to have another striker challenging. And surely crazy rumours is the whole point of this kind of forum. Who know's maybe Adam Rooney will leave Birmingham and choose us :hmmm:

Agreed Sippo. But the 9 has been left void to tempt someone.

I thought Kerrouche and/or Connell were the target men, being 6 foot plus. But PDC is obviously thinking about signing some Crouch like figure!!

No9 is always the Sheaer type to me. Doesn't need speed, and none of this fancy dribbling, just smash the ball so hard your toenails fall of.

And can score with his head

I'm not bothered either way. However I think PDC has indicated that said type of player is what he's after so we might as well discuss it.

Someone on there this morning said the number 9 shirt was going to Newport County's Gary Warren...who is a centre back.

Sums up that site!!

Is someone on that website still peddling James Constable?

Rory Fallon is a free agent.

So LJ9, you want a player built like a brick shit house, who is quick, skillful and fearsome in front of goal ?

It wouldn't surprise me Costanza. Some of the worst predictions/equations are posted up there and it's just cringe.

2+2=5 all day long!!

Didn't Howard recently score four in a friendly for Leicester? Either way, if he was to leave them, I'm sure he'd have plenty of League One clubs after him.

A credible shout is Ben Burgesss. Currently unattached after being told he could leave Notts County, fairly modest goal-scoring record but when have these type of players ever been known for their goal scoring prowess?! At 6 foot 3, I remember him being a bit like Jon Parkin when they beat us here in April.

Other than kids publishing stuff that the media has already announced, it's never ever accurate.

It amuses me - BUT it's annoying when people lift stuff from there and put the rumours on other sites.

True, i thought you were referring to the fact that those attributes couldn't come together.

Barry, Barry Corr.

Modest pace and skill but has a decent enough level of all the attributes listed.

I think a big old lump at no.9 is exactly what we need. I would love to have Fallon back, I think he would do a great job linking up with Connell.

Barry Corr would be a great signing if he didn't have such obvious fitness issues. But if he didn't have those he would be playing at a higher level anyway.

They are both 5 foot 11.

I did try and look quickly but just went off the pics of them!! They look taler that 5'11".

All the more reason to find a "big target man"!!

By his own admission he was drinking too much while he was here, and did act like a bit of a big time charlie at times. He sorted himself out (attitude and drinking) at Swansea and became a much better footballer. Im not sure he would want to come back here, just because it might remind him of old habits.

Be interesting to know if Plymouths decision to release him was a football decision or a financial one?

We could certainly do a lot worse, if he wanted to come back.

I heard a rumour that while he was with us, he and everyone's favourite classy Brazil-born American midfielder would bum each other quite regularly.

Each to their own.

Paul Benson was due to move to Notts County but could not agree personal terms. Hope PDC is on the case, would be a quality signing.

I personally think Aden Flint will be an absolute revolution this season, he was wanted by clubs a lot higher up than us and is an absolute man mountain, Paolo obviously has no worries about him, I think he'll end up being a lot better than Devera.
