All this Di Canio taking no shit is fine but ....... The season is less than a month away and I would hate to think we are going to be left scraping around for strikers on loan in mid to late August!

Fuck him.  It's a long way to travel to try to play a game with the club.

The deal might not necessarily be dead, Di Canio's probably just applying a little bit of pressure.

Time will tell.

But what happens if we lose everything?

Everything?  At worst we lose a player we don't have who doesn't want to play for us.  At best, he decides he wants to play for us and will have to win the fans over with his contribution to the team.

If he's asked for a week extension then he (or his agent) have obviously got other irons in the fire, Di Canio knows this, so is moving on to fresh targets.

Fair enough, if Bargas is really that keen then his agent will have to work fast now to secure a deal.

This is a good move by Di Canio and the club.

We tried to do a deal quickly, its not happened. Chances are that he wont do a quick deal with any club. In 2 weeks time I bet he will still need a club and we will still need a striker, but there will be some pressure on his end because he will want to be in a team before the season starts.

By ending our interest, we have probably put off other English clubs (who will be thinking Bargas and his agent must be a couple of cowboys). Weve been too wet behind the ears with this sort of deal in the past, players and their agents just use the clubs to get more interest. Now we are back in control, maybe he's worth another ring in 10 days time, maybe not.   

It just goes to show you cannot believe a word of what that twat Gary Rose or the rest of the Adver sports journos write.  He was supposed to have flown in yesterday and started talks with PDC.  What a load of old bollocks the Adver really is!! :gay:

Hmmm.... It is odd. Gary Rose spent the entire day saying (on Twitter) that he hadn't arrived and then they published that article.

They've got to sell papers too I suppose. My guess is that he anticipated his arrival and it turned out that to be a big ol waste of time.

HUGO Bargas arrived in Italy yesterday to discuss a move to Swindon, choosing to make the long flight from South America after boss Paolo Di Canio sold the prospect of playing for the Robins to the striker.

Which implies that he had turned up.

Di Canio 100% did the right thing. He won't be fucked around. Good.

It doesn't say that he didn't actually arrive does it?

Di Canio's not the sort of man to waste time on anything it seems, totally focused on the job and anything else is a distraction.  Good stuff.
