Although to single out attitude and how they integrate with the rest of the squad as the main things to be assessed speaks volumes...

Say it quietly, but the more I think about Leon Knight, the more I think his signing could be a good thing. If, of course, he can be controlled by di Canio. (I've no doubt PdC could control LK, but I think it depends on whether LK's chip is so big he'll simply choose to not allow himself to be controlled, which would be a disaster.)

So basically behave for a week leon and you will get a deal then...

My only reservation about Knight is that he may disrupt the dressing room.

For me there is a slight question mark about the recent standard of football he has been playing. But I'm sure PDC will know what he needs in this regard.

So yes its all about the attitude. Of course he'll manage to behave and look dedicated for 10 days. It 6 months time that bothers me. If we a relying on him as a starting front man its a risk. If we are bringing him in as a 3rd striker it takes a lot of the worry away.

The other nagging doubt is why Knight is on our radar at all. I'd have thought we'd have better, or at least lower risk targets. Agent influence? Desperation? Always a target? Nobody can answer that.

Ain't happy but won't be sulking about it either.

Beat me to it tans... my only concern with all this is that we seem to be restricting ourselves to one agent and his contacts. I do hope our net is cast a bit wider than that.

I agree with BR none of the foreign signings Comazzi, De Vita or Italian GK are anything to do with the agency although it would seem Devera, Smith & Knight are so there is a bit of a mixed bag

I wouldn't be too disappointed with Leon Knight to be honest.
OK, he's an arrogant little shit and isn't liked by many, but most footballers are the same, he's just a bit more open and blatant about being a cunt.
di Canio won't take any shit from anyone, so if he can get the best out of him and get him to knuckle down, then he will score goals in League Two.

At the very least, there is a heavy bias towards this agent...which is raising a few eyebrows because when Di Canio was given the job, one of the key expectations we had as fans was that his profile would enable him to attract a better class of player in his own right.  Don't get me wrong - I'm not writing off any of these signings or potential signings before they have shown us what they can do.  But...the PDC Effect does not appear to be very noticeable at the moment.

Yes, we're League 2.  Yes, it's early days.  Yes, there's a wage cap.  Understand all of that.  I'm still a little surprised, however, that we're relying on agents to the extent that we are - and a little concerned that the years PDC has spent out of the country may mean that the contacts he used to have are not worth much any more.

PS  A few killer signings in the next few days or weeks would dispel all of this, I know.  Hope it happens.

Maybe we're not going to announce the 'big signings' until the season ticket offer has passed so the fair weather supporters foot the bill...

Like most of us I was getting concerned about the transfer activity taking place but having given it some thought I've brightened up a little...
I think the biggest problem was that I hadn't heard of any of the players (apart from Knight) that have arrived and made the assumption that they can't be any good, but is that fair?
Smith, Devera and De Vita were all 'player of the year' or very popular at their previous clubs, Comazzi has played regularly at a standard that I would imagine is higher than league 2, the foreign triallists sound like they have had pretty solid careers to date around Europe and will be hungry to be successful in England and as for Leon Knight, IF he gets his head right we know he'll score at league 2 level.
Lots of ifs and buts and no doubt 2 or 3 players still to come.
As for signings made by other teams, Rovers look to be going down the tried and trusted route and would probably be a safe bet for the play-offs, I don't want to be a 'safe bet for the play-offs' though so on that basis I'll take our 'riskier'  signings over theirs in the hope we have title winning potential!    :D

I don't think that's true at all. Generally people don't seemed concerned by the quality, as you say, we don't know them. Its the lack of speed of signings coupled with suspect agent involvement.

Di Canio is no Alan Buckle but thats what we want dont we? I have said it before but I think he will not want to be seen as a failure and will want to be seen as being a bit different to other Buckle type managers in this league. It is a risk and one that will see him berated if it goes tits up. I can just see the posts coming in now, moaning about we should have gone down the Rovers route etc. It will be shit or bust but that`s what supporting this team has always been about....we had the shit last season and `things can only get better`
