Perhaps the plan is to have a squad of 14 players that are highly paid thus beating the wage cap and making sure everyone gets a game every week by making 3 subs.  Certainly would help explain the current transfer situation.  :hmmm:

i deleted my post as i changed my mind.
i think if there are enough matches arranged then the league format doesn't matter.

first teams don't play reserve games unless returning from injury,a big gap between matches etc.
The second string generally do, and to keep fringe players keen and give them the chance to put themselves in the managers thoughts.
