Title: Re: Carling Cup Post by: Gnasher on Thursday, June 16, 2011, 09:11:51 Good for the fans, but no income from a home tie and out in the first round again ain't good for the club.
Title: Re: Carling Cup Post by: Paolo69 on Thursday, June 16, 2011, 09:14:20 Good for the fans, but no income from a home tie and out in the first round again ain't good for the club. Nice local one this (even though i live in Reading). They took great delight in "sending us down" the last time we played there. Don't have much time for the bumpkins to be honest. Think we'll get a percentage of the income given its a cup tie. Title: Re: Carling Cup Post by: MichaelPook on Thursday, June 16, 2011, 09:14:30 we can beat these scum! top draw

Title: Re: Carling Cup Post by: mrverve on Thursday, June 16, 2011, 09:19:46 Basically the league needs one less team in the first round proper because Birmingham are in the Championship but have a EL date the week of the first round.

Title: Re: Carling Cup Post by: Batch on Thursday, June 16, 2011, 09:22:35 fucking ace draw. only reservation is its so early in the season and the new squad won't have gelled.
bring it on. lets are how committed and passionate a pdc team is! Title: Re: Carling Cup Post by: Kinky Tom on Thursday, June 16, 2011, 09:26:18 for pdc it's the best possible draw in some respect, a deby against a team two divisions above us. a good performance and maybe a win would really kick-start his career as swindon manager and would be a great start to the season

Thank-you kind sir. Title: Re: Carling Cup Post by: leefer on Thursday, June 16, 2011, 20:18:03 Great draw. Never bben there before, should be good fun! Been there seven times, chased afterwards twice, one year we stopped them getting in the playoffs, think Owen missed a pen near the end for them and it was carnage, pitch invasion and i was playing dot to dot with the coppers after so i didn't get hammered. Title: Re: Carling Cup Post by: westyorksnffc on Thursday, June 16, 2011, 20:18:16 Is ITV west still going? Would love to get that stupid grin off that twat Geoff Twentyman on points west. Got bloody confusing with ITV when I lived in Swindon, depended on which way the TV aerial was pointing, but if memory serves me you had a choice of HTV, Meridien and Central South, and my flat was in the town centre, not like I was on the outskirts anywhere. Title: Re: Carling Cup Post by: Notts red on Thursday, June 16, 2011, 21:52:00 Remember going there when we were in the open end and they had the east end. Walking back to train station along side the Avon after being given a few choruses near end of match from city of " your going in the river " The good old days !
Title: Re: Carling Cup Post by: chalkies_shorts on Thursday, June 16, 2011, 22:09:47 Been there seven times, chased afterwards twice, one year we stopped them getting in the playoffs, think Owen missed a pen near the end for them and it was carnage, pitch invasion and i was playing dot to dot with the coppers after so i didn't get hammered. Swindon had one hell of a mob that day but unfortunately it was like a children's tea party compared to what the fuck was waiting for us. Their pitch invasion was a bit wank - they gave Bamber and the Fridge a few slaps and then rushed over to where we were but soon fucked off back after a few took some digs. Outside, however, fuck me that was very, very naughty. The pubs in Old Town that evening were great - singing everywhere. Title: Re: Carling Cup Post by: mrverve on Thursday, June 16, 2011, 22:19:21 The last time I went to Ashton Gate was in 2002 so definitely going in August.
Title: Re: Carling Cup Post by: westyorksnffc on Friday, June 17, 2011, 11:58:04 Westyorksnffc, what's wrong with notts? Very straightforward, when Notts County were formed in 1862, they were just called 'Notts'. When Forest formed in 1865, we were called 'The Forest'. To differenciate ourselves from Notts we added Nottingham, to become 'Nottingham Forest', and later Notts added County, to become 'Notts County'. We also moved to a new ground, The City Ground, in 1898, when Nottingham was given city status, but Notts at the time, and probably up to the late 1930's were the bigger team, covering the County of Nottinghamshire, as opposed to just the City boundary. End result, we are Nottingham, not Notts. Ironically, and because of boundary changes down the years, Notts County now play in The City of Nottingham, and Nottingham Forest play in the borough of Rushcliffe, literally yards outside of the city boundary, but in an area now know as Greater Nottingham. As for rivalry, they hate us (no, they're jealous of our recent successes), we just see them as our annoying little brother, they're there, and that's it, and other than when they had Tommy Lawton playing for them Forest have been the much bigger team since WW2. History lesson over. Title: Re: Carling Cup Post by: Batch on Friday, June 17, 2011, 12:16:09 Thanks for the info on Notts Forrest.
