Title: New Season Tickets?
Post by: STFC_Gazzza on Monday, June 13, 2011, 14:32:58
Anyone else heard that next season we will not be getting season ticket books but season ticket cards like the old days (I have an old STFC Membership card form 1986 at home) that you swipe to get into the ground?

I know the club tried some barcode scanning thing for online purchases a couple seasons ago. Heard rumours that the club are getting electronic ticket readers for season tickets added to the turnstyles this year? Haven't read it anywhere though?

Watkins definitely 100% mentioned this ages ago, but I assumed they ditched the idea when no more was said.

Oooh, snazzy if true.

Seems to make sense then you just scan your card if you have 100% red or whatever memberships as well as they were all offered together with the season tickets so it works on the same principle as a bus pass really, its loaded with your season ticket then your memberships etc on top. Card is used in the club shop it deducts the 10% when scanned making service quicker I suppose?

Hope so. Those books piss me off and are a nuisance. Would rather have a card I can just put in my wallet.

If i remember correctly the cards were pulled because they were easy to copy and there were a fair amount of "rogue" season tickets around.

Cards are easier to lose also and there is possibly a high cost on a replacement I think books are something like £5 admin cost of you lose ?

It's the future im afraid, in a few years all grounds will have entry by card or having to scan a barcode on a ticket.

kids of the future will laugh when you tell them you used to have a paper ticket.

and you had to hand it to an actual human being on the turnstile.  They wont appreciate the old days as they park up their hover boards outside the ground and a robot steward directs them to the floating stand.

You said you lost it early on in the season, £20 and hey presto, 2 season tickets.

Honestly would never do that to STFC, but im sure others did.

I havnt got a problem with barcodes on the turnstiles.

Ricki Hunt promised those machines in the 90's. Not the first thing he promised and couldn't deliver !!!

Who needs a card?  Why not just an app on your phone that you scan on your way in? :callyou:

Probably because we don't all feel the need to have smart phones to be in touch with every cunt we know 24/7

When I'm in front of a pc yes.

When I'm out with mates, no.
