Title: Supporters Direct
Post by: Summerof69 on Sunday, June 12, 2011, 15:31:25
Supporters Direct, the orgainisation which has helped 180 Supporters Trusts, including TrustSTFC, faces being wound up after the FSIF withdrew it's funding, after the Premier League complained that SD's Chief Exec Dave Boyle tweeted some choice comments about Franchise and it's Chairman, when AFC Wimbledon won promotion back to the Football League.

You can read the article here by David Conn:

The FA and the PL are worried about the upcoming Goverment report into Football Governance. With groups like the Football Supporters Association and SD around, they are worried that they will be forced into letting supporters have more say. In fact a month ago SD launched their first two papers, 'Developing public policyto encourage supporter community ownership in football' and 'Developing football regulation to encourage supporter community ownership in football', at Westminster with a number of MP's in attendance.

Football have been warned for over 40 years to put their houses in order, but they haven't...but this time they might be forced to.

The SD papers can be seen here :

SD wants £1.2m over 3 years to subsidise it.

Scudamore gets a £3m bonus for 'negotiating' the latest PL TV contracts.

Nice work if you can get it !!

Dave Boyle has been intrumental in SD being as good as it is and helping so many clubs, I know he offered a lot of help and support when we was going through all our problems and us trust guys where looking at things, it is a shame as his comments were obviously from his personal point of view but equally echoing other fan's ideas rather than a 'SD view' but someone was obviously out to get him.

It is a shame that Dave Boyle had to fall on his sword but unfortunetly it was probably the only thing he could have done.

Let's hope things can be resolved as for SD to fold would just be catastrofic as has been said I'm sure the PL would be happy with them out the way, or perhaps these primodona footballers can donate a weeks wages to help out SD with the funding required.
