Paignton Zoo is brilliant. Any of the ferry trips around Dartmouth/Exmouth Buckets/Spades and beaches. Title: Re: Devon, Devon, Devony, Devon Post by: Bewster on Tuesday, June 7, 2011, 09:03:34 North

On the way back we stopped in at Lynton / Lynmouth for an hour or so. Was a bit wet on the sunday but looked really nice and will probably go back there sometime. There's a narrow gauge steam railway that runs from there to Barnstable too. Might be good for the nippers....
Title: Re: Devon, Devon, Devony, Devon Post by: magicroundabout on Tuesday, June 7, 2011, 09:52:38 i went there for a school holiday years ago and thought it was excellent. a nice walk is along the river to a point called Waters Meet. there is a lovely cafe there to sit in and enjoy the surroundings.
http://www.devon-explorer.co.uk/devon/Watersmeet/ Also the museum detailing the history of the flood which killed loads of people is quite interesting too. This is in Lynton/Lynmouth BTW. Also the tram taking you up the hill to the Lynton/Lynmouth (forget which one is higher) is water powered and very steep. worth the trip up Title: Re: Devon, Devon, Devony, Devon Post by: Gelbfüßler on Tuesday, June 7, 2011, 11:18:51 Theres a fairly decent park in north devon, which I remember enjoying when I was younger. Title: Re: Devon, Devon, Devony, Devon Post by: pumbaa on Tuesday, June 7, 2011, 20:09:12 Off to Croyde this coming weekend. The beach there is lovely, as is Saunton Sands a couple of miles further back. Grab a bite to eat in The Thatch in Croyde village - the ribs are excellent. Squires Fish and Chips in Braunton is highly recommended by many foodies, so we'll be trying that this weekend.
Lynton/Lynmouth and Big Sheep already mentioned. Combe Martin might be worth a trip too. If we find anything else, will report back. Title: Re: Devon, Devon, Devony, Devon Post by: Ginginho on Wednesday, June 8, 2011, 09:02:50 I nearly killed my car a couple of years ago going to Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park.
The entrance and gate are on a very steep hill and my little Fiesta was nearly dead after waiting inline and then trying to get enough acceleration to get up the hill! I had to get it fixed in a garage a couple of days later, they commented that a lot of their business comes from cars being fucked from going to that place. Still once I got in there it was great, but if you've got a pokey little car with no power be careful! Ha ha - many moons ago, I had to spend the day in Combe Martin while getting the car fixed at the garage there, due to problems with hills in the area!! Title: Re: Devon, Devon, Devony, Devon Post by: Samdy Gray on Wednesday, June 8, 2011, 09:15:54 I nearly ended up that way on my recent holiday to south Devon, when I was trying to negotiate the holiday park which was set on a hill.
I had a bit of an adventure, whereby I grounded my car on a particularly steep downhill corner and which eventually led to me driving half way around the park with my handbrake on :-[ Title: Re: Devon, Devon, Devony, Devon Post by: Batch on Wednesday, June 8, 2011, 10:58:00 I had a bit of an adventure, whereby I grounded my car on a particularly steep downhill corner and which eventually led to me driving half way around the park with my handbrake on :-[ Surely you just jumnped out of your car and ran to the backup vehicle in your motorcade. Oh wait. You aren't yet president of the USA.
