There's been a lot of criticism about the silence from the club recently. Just wondered what everyone else thought.....

Most people at the club are on their Hols so news is slow

Pisses me off 'cos I don't know.

But that doesn't think I should be told anything yet anyway. Just impatience.

I'm not being impatient.

However, as I mentioned before, the club under the current board have a reputation of being slow within the transfer market. This does leave me cautious/nervous! As we all know, we cannot afford to be left behind this summer.

In fairness, people are still on holiday.

I agree with Constanza.

We may end up signing 10 brilliant players. But we haven't yet, so I'm nervous.

I said in another thread that notihng ever really happens until lateJune early July anyway. I'm not getting too worried just yet. There are still 2 motnhs before the first ball is kicked anyway an d most pllayers and managers are on holiday.

I'm impatient and demand players tomorrow !

I can cope with the silence. I can't cope with the recycled regurgitated shit from the adver, I'd rather they gave no news than old news.

I just hope the club shop are ordering plenty of vowels for the new players that are booking their flights as I type.

No need to panic, but we need to be signing 3 or 4 players in the first week of July. If the signings dont start that week then we're in trouble.

But I am sure players will sign for Di Canio.

Nothing worse than leaked names and done deals turning out to be nothing or even worse an agent leveraging a little publicity at the club’s expense.  Better no news than half a dozen false dawns.

If he is, I hope the phone in the manager's office is not still that crappy old beige BT one from the Lou Macari days! I remember a really cheesy photo of him pretending to use it on his manager's notes page in the programme. I bet most of his calls were to the Brunel Rooms and Level Three, checking out which of the players were out on the town!

I wouldn't worry too much. The majority of the players are on holiday at the moment aswell. We've got 2 months to get the players in. Let's all have some faith (at least until the beginning of July, then we can start to get a little bit worried!)

Why are Swindon fans such moaners?! It's the same every year. If we signed any players as soon as the season ends people moan. We have a brand new manager who hasn't even seen the squad as the players are still on holiday!! Things take time. We have two months to go til the start of the season!!

As for the board being quiet, well we've had a lot of hype of the new manager? What are people expecting? The board to make announcements on a daily basis?!

Silence from the club doesnt bother me as they are keeping their cards close to their chest. Its the fact that PDC seems to be in Italy all the time that does. IMO he should be getting stuck in to the job over here, meeting and building rapports with staff, coaches, scouts etc instead of sitting back in Italy picking up a pay cheque, he talks a good game but does he think he is bigger than the club already???

Is he going to have Bodin take training all week, fly back into the UK for the game then fuck off back to Italy again after the match and let Bodin or his number 2 to pre and post game interviews??

On the flip side I suppose he could be sat at home in Italy and forming his own opinions of players by watching videos etc without the interference of others?

OK Early days but to me he seems rather disinterested at the minute. I am sure I am completely wrong and talking shit but still.....seems like he has only been in the UK 2 days since accepting the job.

In fairness though Buckle knows this league, PDC doesn't. Buckle already had those players in mind prior to the end of the season and would have tried to sign them whether he stayed at Torquay or went to Rovers so hardly a fair comparison.

Got to be pretty normal at this time of year give it a month when holidays are over and some more players have left the club. Have to enjoy this moment as the expectation of the coming season builds as we wait to see who we will get on board...just impatient to find out what`s going to happen....

 It was always going to be the case, that with an appointment like di Canio, player recruitment would be done on the hoof through an agent....conventional wisdom says this isn't the way to do it, but we'll just have to wait and see.

I dont like the way this elitetheagents are acting on twitter. They are basically using it as a tool to manipulate the fans to put pressure on the club.

Its not even a decent football agency.

How can that be so when they are saying that the deals are in the pipeline?

If anything they are placating the fans by re-assuring them that players are coming.

As for whether they are any good or not......... I really just don't know.

You wait until the negotiations start. Until its all signed, the less the fans know about it the better. Any leaking of negotiations/targets does the club no good at all.

But Di Canio and the club have already said we're looking at a number of players, and we all know that means negotiations. It's no secret and every club there is is doing the same.

I also think these agents act like tools at times. But I don't see how they've said anything the club haven't already said themselves.

Looking at players doesn't mean negotiations at all. In talks with players would.

Its pretty obvious that any agent activity is designed to increase player wages and agents fee's, because that is the reason they exist.

People are going on as if these agents are revealing inside secrets of the club.

In reality they are just stating the bleedin obvious, that's my point. Of course we are looking at <pedantry> in negotiations with </pedantry> players.

Why is it that this is being put out with great regularity in a public domain by a third party though, one which has no obligation to continually announce this. It makes them seem unproffesional, and ruins our image aswell imo

They said they were going to announce STFC's new manager the day before Di Canio was announced as manager. That would be OK if that was just rumour and conjecture. But as Di Canio's agent they were right there in the negotiations.

It was not their place to announce Di Canio as Swindon's manager. What if talks had broken down? What if Di Canio had wanted too much money and the club had moved on to someone else?

I agree that was twatish of them, and that they are quite twatish in general.

But I don't see the harm in them saying we are looking to get some players in. It's hardly ground breaking stuff.

Di Canio aside, he's not saying anything of note and I don't recall ever reading "SWINDON FANS WATCH THIS SPACE. Signin comin soapy tit wank". The managerial stuff could have been done and dusted behind-the-scenes when he called it. Perhaps this is the way of the football world now. I'm surprised we don't know more than we do.

People ask this agent chap questions which is fair enough and he replies with yes, no or maybe.

I don't get the fuss to be honest had a look at a few other agents on there and they are no different.

Weird how they seem to be getting loads of shit yet when the Adver report on friday we should be expecting signings on friday nothing is said.

I might make up a talent agency twitter account and say that the xyz production company are on the look out for actors/performers etc. I might even say they are in or are due to have discussions with a few.

The Adver are not involved in the discussions and they are not seeking to gain directly from the deals. Big difference.

What some of us are trying to figure out Spencer is how their tweets could affect any deal!

I can imagine them saying in negotiations "Your fans tell us through Twitter that they are desperate for signings to be made, so you should meet "x" price".

If you look at his feed he is revealing giving the yes, no, maybe nod about players at other clubs.

So I should think that he will be doing that about Swindon targets soon.

Anyone who has ever done any negotiating knows that your position is weakened if disclosures are being made about the deals and the likelyhood of them happening from people on the inside.

I know you seem to want to ignore (has he ignored me) Spence, but I'll ask again.
