Title: Paul Bodin Post by: joteddyred on Sunday, May 29, 2011, 12:55:42 I had a good albeit drunken conversation with Paul Bodin last night and what a nice man he is. He has a meeting with Di Canio on Wednesday in which he will discover whether he still has a role at Swindon Town. He genuinely seems to think that he's going to be shown the door. I for one will be extremely pissed off if that turns out to be the case. It was clear just how much the club means to him and he does a bloody good job with the youths.

Quote Bodin has Swindon Town future under Di Canio - Wray Swindon Town manager Paolo di Canio wants to keep former caretaker boss Paul Bodin on his staff, according to chairman Jeremy Wray. Youth team coach Bodin took charge of the Robins' final two games of the season following Paul Hart's departure. He publicly stated his desire to take the job permanently, but the club opted to appoint former West Ham striker Di Canio instead. "He is very keen that Paul is part of his set up," Wray told BBC Wiltshire. "Paul is an integral part of what we've done so far and I hope that continues. "Paolo is going to have to use his knowledge and he'll be wanting to work very closely with Paul to get to know the players in the first team and as a link to the youth team, as he is vital in knowing what resources we have there." Title: Re: Paul Bodin Post by: BANGKOK RED on Sunday, May 29, 2011, 16:30:16 I'd be very surprised if he was shown the door. It's easy to see why somebody who genuinely cares about the club should be behind the scenes.
I expect it is on his mind, put that's quite natural when there are a lot of changes occurring. Title: Re: Paul Bodin Post by: Don Rogers Shop on Sunday, May 29, 2011, 17:01:19 I believe he was actually offerd the N02 role and turned it down so he can work with the youth team still.
Title: Re: Paul Bodin Post by: joteddyred on Sunday, May 29, 2011, 17:05:43 Did he buy you a drink No - tight bastard. Tom Jones bought my mate one tho, but she does know him.Title: Re: Paul Bodin Post by: tans on Sunday, May 29, 2011, 17:20:56 Its not unusual
Title: Re: Paul Bodin Post by: OOH! SHAUN TAYLOR on Sunday, May 29, 2011, 19:06:03 If Boding went, that would be totally fucked up and wrong.
FACT! Title: Re: Paul Bodin Post by: Power to people on Sunday, May 29, 2011, 19:17:01 I hope he stays and it would be nice if he had some sort of coaching role with the senior team he's done well with the youths for a few years so maybe it is time to step up
Title: Re: Paul Bodin Post by: Iffy's Onion Bhaji on Monday, May 30, 2011, 10:09:14 Bodin as 1st team coach/reserve and youth team boss I think. We need someone here who knows the club and someone who can help PDC with his lack of lower league experience.

We need someone here who knows the club and someone who can help PDC with his lack of lower league experience. that's too much work for one bloke. i'd keep him in the role he had been doing.i see no reason why he shoudn't continue as youth team boss Title: Re: Paul Bodin Post by: red flag on Tuesday, June 14, 2011, 17:45:22 Looks like Ling is after Bodin...

Big step for him if he does, prob hard for him to make up his mind if he was offerd it, although he might feel abit pushed out aswell.http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/13767570.stm (http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/13767570.stm) Title: Re: Paul Bodin Post by: Don Rogers Shop on Tuesday, June 14, 2011, 18:10:43 Believe he was offered the same role here and turned it down.Albeit very different now as he is obviously best mates with him.
Adver running a story tomorow apparantly. Title: Re: Paul Bodin Post by: STFC_Gazzza on Tuesday, June 14, 2011, 18:14:19 Bodin will leave for Torquay no doubt! Fair play to him, I would have chosen Bodin over Di Canio to be honest but i am sure PDC will do the job.
Title: Re: Paul Bodin Post by: Power to people on Tuesday, June 14, 2011, 18:39:20 It is probably the right step for Bodin if he wants to one day be a manager, if he can become a No2 and carve out a reputation as a good coach then it will help him

Title: Re: Paul Bodin Post by: yeo on Tuesday, June 14, 2011, 19:21:56 I assumed our 2 signing earlier in the week were Bodins choices?

Title: Re: Paul Bodin Post by: Arriba on Tuesday, June 14, 2011, 19:23:17 i thought he was staying and carrying on from last year with the youths. This offer might be too good to turn down though
Title: Re: Paul Bodin Post by: Riddick on Tuesday, June 14, 2011, 19:24:09 Bodin stands more of a chance at Torquay doesnt he? An assistant there is better than youth coach here. Best of luck if he does decide to go
Title: Re: Paul Bodin Post by: Costanza on Tuesday, June 14, 2011, 19:26:42 Always good to have a former player of the staff... Shame if he leaves because results wise, he's done a great job. Perhaps we might have seen a few more graduates had Wilson had a little more faith?
Title: Re: Paul Bodin Post by: Don Rogers Shop on Tuesday, June 14, 2011, 19:38:45 Well let's hope then that if he does go we get our targets in quickly before he targets them at Torquay.

Title: Re: Paul Bodin Post by: LucienSanchez on Wednesday, June 15, 2011, 08:36:34 Bodin would be stupid to go... he has a secure job here. Lingy will be sacked in a year, leaving Bodin nowhere. Probably. Possibly.

Probably. Possibly. I agree PDC will fuck off by January and be given the managers job here so.... why would he go. Title: Re: Paul Bodin Post by: Foggy on Wednesday, June 15, 2011, 11:39:20 I agree PDC will fuck off by January and be given the managers job here so.... why would he go. I have read this 3 times and it still doesnt make any sense Title: Re: Paul Bodin Post by: Batch on Wednesday, June 15, 2011, 11:41:14 I have read this 3 times and it still doesnt make any sense I'm bilingual: He agrees Bodin would be mad to leave. Gazza thinks DiCanio will not be manager by January and at that point Bodin would be offered the Swindon manager's job. Title: Re: Paul Bodin Post by: magicroundabout on Wednesday, June 15, 2011, 11:42:25 for a die hard swindon fan he has no faith in our squad. why would PDC want to leave a team who's top of the league in Jan ;)

Youth team coach to assistant manager is a step up.
Title: Re: Paul Bodin Post by: Ardiles on Wednesday, June 15, 2011, 13:30:04 A step up? Depends on the ££ as well, I suppose. Would an Assistant Manager at Torquay earn any more than a Youth Team Coach at Swindon? When you add in that PB is a naturalised Swindonian and has been settled there for years, it may not be the cut & dried decision some are suggesting. I'd love to see him stay.
Title: Re: Paul Bodin Post by: Costanza on Wednesday, June 15, 2011, 13:46:31 It really does depend what he wants out of the game.
The Newport manager was in a cushy little coaching job at Spurs but wanted a shot at management. If Bodin see himself as a senior coach then he'll take the drop in wages. Title: Re: Paul Bodin Post by: DV on Wednesday, June 15, 2011, 18:58:53 Probably the only person from last season I want to see at the club this season.
